I just picked up one of them as a Christmas gift to myself and I've been lurking this forum for quite a while. I've seen tons of posts about how the 26" box has.. less than ideal casters. Is it the same for the 44"? I noticed they have zerks and steel centers but the "tire" looks to be kind of a blah quality.

Oh, and nice to meet you all too!

Since nobody has answered your question yet or greeted you, welcome to the forum. I can't answer your question directly. Since the 44 has grease fittings, I'd take that as a good sign. Also, I found a vid for upgrading the casters if you so desire.

Enjoy that new box. I'm a little envious.

The casters seem ok on the 26in. box. I have one It is probably 5 years old and i have had zero issues with them. My floor is concrete in the shop so its not like rolling it over gravel. But for the price point it has held up better than 1 of my craftsman ihate to say.

General rule for HF is maybe its bad, best to check it out for yourself and see if it meets your standards. I like stuff to roll around even when over loaded, so I have lots of things with casters or wheels, and I do like the really good ones, but don't like to pay for them, so live with even the really bad ones.

The 44 and the 26" box are nowhere near alike.
I have a lathe mounted to the top of my 44" box and it is full or tooling.
It moves ok but you know you are moving some weight.
I would say the casters are pretty good. What are you going to use your 44" for?

Like Bob, I have a Smithy 3 in 1 on my 44. Lots of tooling in the box along with the 18" add on. I have no problems wheeling mine around for cleaning or looking for run-a-way parts.

Had my 44 for a few years; with topbox and side cabinet. Loaded to the gills...casters fine.
