Im hoping to pick up a harbor frieght 44" tool box tomorrow after work and was wondering what the packed/crated dimensions are so I can see if they will fit in my work van or if I'll have to wait till the weekend when I can get my friends pickup to go get it. Thanks.

It will fit into a van without any issues. I helped my friend load it into a mini van with the rear seats folded away. No reason it will not fit in a full size van.

If I remember correctly, the box was only a couple inches larger than the overall dimensions of the tool box. There was just some cardboard packing around the corners of the box.

It's heavy too. Have a friend on hand to help you get it out of the van.

I dont remember the exact crate size, but the wheels are already mounted the skid fits under that. So it will be 5 or 6" taller than listed height, also for crating and packaging I think it was about 1/2" of foam and 1/2" crate over each surface. I hope this helps.
BTW. Do you have seats in your van?
Can they be removed?, if yes no problem

Thanks guys. It's a service van. So it's just shelves on the sides and my tools in the center. I was more worried about the height. I have 48" at the lowest point for the door latch.

You can always lay it down. Not an issue for transport. I just picked one up last weekend for $359 and I love it so far. I would suggest unpacking it a bit before you leave to be sure the corners aren't dented in. One on my corners was dented in a bit but didn't affect functionality overall.

I actually just picked one up today. As others have said, there's about 6" of a pallet under the tool box wheels. Outside the cabinet is 1/2" foam, a double walled box, and 1/4" plywood tacked to 1/2" plywood "crate" on each side. The top of the cabinet has another 1/2" of foam, a double walled box top and probably another 3/4" for the exterior crate. Good luck with your purchase, I looked through all the local tool stores and came to the conclusion that most carried some version of the Harbor Freight box for around 1.5x the on-sale price.

Great choice, mine is 6 years old and I still love it. Im buying another soon, the first is full. It is definitely not light, not gonna be fun unloading out of a van.

Thanks. Hopefully ill get some time this weekend to organize everything into it.
I plan on sanding the trim and spraying it black. Never cared must for polished/chrome trim.

I was able to borrow my friends truck which is low enough that I rolled it end over end off the tailgate then unboxed it and rolled it in the garage by myself

As you can see the thing weighs a few hundred pounds and is in a wooden frame. You can't lift it so it needs to be slid in and out. Maybe if you laid a sheet of plywood down first otherwise I see possible carpet or interior damage. To get it out count on 3-4 people to lift it.

Congratulations, you're going to like that box; great unit for the $$... I fit mine in the back of my Trialblazer. Slid it out by myself and hand-trucked it into place in my garage. No sweat, but then again, I do have the strength of 3 men... :pimpflash. :lol_hitti
