So the lid struts on my 5 drawer failed ( no surprise there ) thought about getting the snap-on hinges but did not find them on snap-ons website. I was able to find replacement struts on amazon. the brand name is - suspa and the part number is - c16-06389. they come as a pair. they were 19.05 plus shipping. these are much stronger then the HF struts ( 48 lbs per set ) you do want to control it coming up , the lid is much more stable when open with these struts. they allow the lid to open a little farther then stock ( not vertical though ) yet the lid closes all the way. also , it takes a little more force to close the lid with these. hope this info helps.

thanks for posting. I've had my cart for almost 3 years and so far the struts are perfect. I even have 3 sets of sockets magnetically stuck to the lid and it works fine. Put your suspa struts in my wish list just in case. Do the suspa struts use the original holes in the cart?

Yes. the suspa struts attach just like the HF struts. no mods needed.
