Here's how. First draw a pencil line on the black locking rail cover. Push the cover down and draw and draw another line. Measure between the two lines.

Drill out the four rivets holding the locking rail covers on. I used needle nose vise grips to keep them spinning.

Do what ever it takes to move the lid past 90°. Then open the drawers about 3", and pull out the locking rails.

Measure between the pencil marks and cut that off the end of each rail. Mine was a fuzz under 9/16", so I cut off 9/16". Deburr all four pecies.

And use the locking rail to push it all the way in. Put the locking rails back in position.

Close the lid and drawers should be locked. Open the lid, pull off the black covers, close the lid and drawers should open. If they won't open tim a 1/16" off the long rails. When all is good rivet the covers back on.

Also I put two of these felt pads on the inside of the lid corners the keep it from rattling.

I think I got the pads from Lowes.
