I went to the store planning to buy that box and from what I've heard HF doesn't do coupons on these boxes anymore.

HF doesn't allow you to use the 20% off coupons on tool boxes anymore, which is probably what you're thinking of. But, they do offer coupons for the boxes themselves.

For example, the best deal on the 44" box I've seen recently is a coupon for $349.

Again, I don't know if they offer coupons for the 56" box or not. There are probably other threads on the forum about it.

Resale on HF boxes seems to be pretty good actually, at least for me. Within the last couple of weeks I sold my 44" 13 drawer on Craig's List for $325 and it didn't take long at all.

There are coupons out for 699.99 for the 56 inch box. Find one in a magazine on the newsstand take it back to the store with your reciept and ask for them to price match it. Save a hundred bucks and never pay full price for anything at harbor freight if you can. At least the big things do some searching online on GJ to find the lowest sale prices or keep some 20% off coupons in your wallet to use.

I got my 44" at this store around 2 years ago...Have been buying little things here and there for the past few years and they are ALWAYS messy, always disorganized, and the employees are always almost no help. They almost didnt' want to sell me the 44" becaue they didnt' believe it could fit in a mini van (That can stack 4'x8' sheets with ease). That being said, I have never had a problem using coupons there. Cashiers seem to just scan and not care. I did get my 44" for $300 out-the-door when they were still accepting the 20%off toolboxes on top of the regular sale price...I should have bought 2!

Good news is, they are opening a new Harbor Freight store closer to me and you in Green Brook NJ on Route 22 where the old Saturn Dealership used to be on the westbound side.

Saying that, I have had no problems with my 44", but it is not loaded heavy with tools, nor do I move it around very much. It suits my purposes very well in being organized and clean. I replaced the junk drawer liners with better ones, and am planning on making a solid wood top for it, bolt on my Wilton, and call it good. When I was comparing tool boxes, It was mainly between the US General boxes, Craftsman (Sears), and Husky (Home Depot). The US General boxes were leaps and bounds better than the other 2, less flimsy, and a better price.

There is a set of older snap-on tool boxes, lockers, and side cabinets for sale relatively local to you... Seems like the guy wants to have them gone. I would pick them up if I had space or use for them now...

I saw that on CL last night and wanted to scream.. I wish I got those without the wall cabs instead of my HF box.

I guess I just don't get this... seems like you purchased something you really didn't want? I can understand being upset that something you just purchased has a defect, but it's only one draw - and it's easily fixed. Based on your posts, it seems like even if you had recieved a perfect box, it still wouldn't make you happy when compaired with a vintage Snap-on box. Box for box and money for money, I'd take the HF all day long... no dents, no rust, no worn out slides, ect. - now, if you're going to restore a vintage snap-on box to like new condition, that's another story. Fun and rewarding project, but a lot of work.

As has been mentioned, $20 of so at uhaul will get you a nice (and low) trailer. Moving boxes is a PITA, but do you think a professional quality box is lighter or easier to move than what you bought? Just seems like you weren't prepared for what you were getting into when you bought a large box.

Wife and I picked up the 56" four hours away from our house. HF workers loaded it into the truck (tearing up the crate as they did, but it's a weak crate anyway) without a forklift. We drove it home and my wife and I unloaded it from our 4x4 F250 with a couple of 2x6 boards.

All I did was unpack it while it was in the bed of the truck, inspect it (on the truck) for damage, attach the handles, and the two of us simply rolled it out of the bed with the drawers in it. No struggling or fighting with it.
