HF 56" or Husky 56" roller cabinet?

I'm trying to decide on whether to get the 56" HF box or the 56" Husky box made by International. They each seem to have their positives and negatives. The HF seems to be built more sturdy as it weighs in at 440lbs compared to the Husky at 284lbs. I do like the full width top drawer on the Husky and the 22" deep drawer opposed 19.5" deep drawers on the HF, but I prefer the layout of the other HF drawers better. I also like the latches on the HF drawers compared to the detents on the Husky. Price wise they're pretty much a wash, the Husky being $720 and the HF $700 with coupon, but I'm not a big fan of the blue color.

If I had a Menards around I'd probably go with the 72" Masterforce for $1000 but there's none near to me.

So, I'm wondering if anyone has the Husky and can comment on the quality of it, and why did you decide to get that over the HF?

Both are good boxes but I have a 56" international box and I love it, the extra few inches in the drawers really makes the difference for me.

I have the International VRB-5610 (the 56" x 24" deep) with matching top box...it's pretty good for the price. Slides need some real grease when you get it, unloaded the drawers feel a bit flimsy and there's a bit of wasted space in the design but once the drawers are loaded it's solid.

Amazon has them with free shipping (serious, they delivered the thing freight for free with liftgate to my house) and when I bought mine I paid only $691 for the bottom and $285 for the top...the price kept dropping day after day, I guess they were trying to clear them out at the time. For under $1000 I doubt I could ever find anything better.

I was just in the same boat but ended up going the used route. Looks like you have the pros & cons figured out. Between those brands I would get the hf 72 when the coupon is out. Between the ones you're looking at if it's for professional use It's a tough call. For home I'd probably go with the 5610 for the top drawer & depth.

From all the info I've seen the Husky is just a rebadged International same as the rebadged Craftsman. They all have the exact same specs. I'm still a little leary though of the 156lbs lighter weight of the Husky/International. Hell the 44" HF box weighs less than 40lbs less.

I was actually thinking of wrapping it in green vinyl or painting it green. I painted my old Mac MB920 top and bottom in a epoxy rebar green spray paint that has held up quite well for about 8yrs now.

I like how the Masterforce is about an inch and a half deeper but mainly I like the 3 50" wide drawers compared to the single 52" on the HF.

I finally decided on the HF box. I like the latches better than the detents, the additional weight, HD wont match the lowes 10% coupon since the box is a non stocked it, and the 19.5" deep drawers are deep enough for my socket holders.

OT, the socket holders are the red 4 row metal trays with a handle from lowes. That for me are great. They are exactly 6" wide so potentially I could put 8 trays of the top two drawers.

Eventually, I also plan to get the upper box for another $400. Being 6'5" tall the height is a non issue.

I'm making the same decision, or was. About half the reviews on the Home Depot Husky boxes listed them coming as dented, and/or with drawers that didn't work properly. A few days ago I stopped at Home Depot and looked at the Husky boxes. Sure enough, at least half the boxes were dented, some quite badly. Just about all had at least one drawer that didn't operate right. Some obviously caused by twisted frames.

Now I don't know if ALL Husky boxes are the same, but after one look at Husky at Home Depot, it was Harbor Freight for me.

Everyone has different needs and wants for layouts, so some else's opinion on layout really doesn't matter, so I'll skip that.

If I had the money for the Extreme that would more than likely be the box I'd buy or maybe a two bay 78" Lista. I love the wide drawers on the Lista but the extra 6" drawer depths and slides are a definite plus, and the Lista doesn't offer a top box which is something I really want too.

Why pay 4 or 5 times as much for a used box with no warranty? At least that's that what a lot of folks around here like to spout off. That if you don't buy from the dealer or the website you don't get the lifetime warranty. I know they don't really enforce that, but what if my multi-thousand dollar box needs say 25 slides are they going to send me $100's worth being that I bought it used?

Same here. It's the same old story, do I want a Harbor Freight I can scrape the money together for, or a used Snap On I can't? Only one of those choices is of any benefit.

There is no debate about quality, it's simply a matter of finances for me.

For anyone out there with the new 56" Gen2 HF model, can anyone tell me if they come with the threaded holes on the lower ends to screw the side cabinets into?
I went to HF today and their 56" floor display models didn't have the holes. Looks like they only do them up to the 44" size?
