HF 6 Ton A Frame Press

anyone have this small compact bench top press?

I'd like a press in my shop, but don't really want the large footprint the free standing large floor presses

With a 25% off coupon they are like $50, just not sure if they are worthwhile

If not, I guess I can deal with the floor mounted press.....I'd just get a 20 ton then

I bought one about 6 months ago. While it does "work" it is the biggest letdown of all my HF purchases. Most of the parts are not drilled square, and even after several attempts, the press is still not square. As the jack is lowered and it tightens against an object, the entire frame racks to one side. I will be using the jack and a few parts with some of my own materials to build a new frame for it.

Again, it works, and has served it's purpose and saved me a bundle of money in paying shop prices. I would sure not buy it again though...

I was given one of these and it was useless to me.I agree with MatBirch.

I bought one used off CL. It was poorly assembled, so the 1st thing I did was take it all apart and reassembled it.

I tried my best to square and true it up, but no go. It works, but I'm in the market for a better one.

HF earns it's reputation.

I bought the similar 12-ton version, and had the same trouble with it racking under load. I kept re-squaring it and it kept racking. I finally got fed up and welded all the corners. Now it's permanently square and works great.

For $155 I think it is worth it

Even it I have to reweld some joints and work on it a tad

Its 127.50 right now with 25% coupon. Coupon can be found in hot deals section on last page or so. It won't get any cheaper. Looking for used is probably a waste
