Saw people talk about them and get the one with the made in italy compressor and made in mexico motor.

I saw this one at HF for $799. Are these still good?

Im debating about getting it vs the Quincy and save some money.

I know everyone will go Quincy, but on a budget...

I bought the HF 60-gal 2-stage compressor for my dad a year ago (last christmas), and it's been excellent. No issues at all. In fact, this year when I visited, I helped him plumb in some 3/4" copper hard lines to extend his air supply reach. Keeps up with the demand from a grinder, haven't tried any media blasting or paint spraying yet though.

If I was in the market for a reasonably powerful residential air compressor today though, I'd spend a few hundred more and buy the new scroll compressor from Eastwood.

I went with the Quincy. For about $400 more the warranty and quality of build is so much better than the HF. I totally understand budget issues. 3 kids in private school, etc, etc. I had to save and scrimp to get the Quincy, but I am happy that I did.

Have you read any of the other HF compressor threads here? This topic has been discussed in detail and I would go search for those threads. HF has changed the pump on one model from the Italian-made 2-cylinder 2-stage to a single-stage 3-cylinder (going from memory here). Some people have found that there is old stock still at their local stores, in some cases buying the dusty floor model.

The only one HF has listed on their website anymore is # 93274, which is the original, true 2-stage unit. The 3-cylinder single stage one was apparently a short-lived product.

I searched but many of those threads are older. Just seeing if anyone recently bought one and thought theyre fine

Your best bet is to go down to the store and see what they have. The better ones have only one air filter. If its got one air filter then then its dual stage as advertised. If its got multiple air filters, then its single stage even though they are calling it dual stage.
