So all the US General, Chicago Electric, Pittsburgh, Cen-Tech, Storehouse, Drill Master, etc brand names will change to Central X names?

I did not mention anything about ordering online. With so many locations near me I have had no reason to order online & never have. I don't see why it would make a difference if an item is ordered online to deliver to a store (if that is even possible) than ordering an item in store that is not in stock as long as it's prepaid?

If an item is on the store list to be sold in the store, it will be replaced on the next truck as long as it's at a warehouse. If it's not sold in the store, it can't be ordered. It's not in the store system to be ordered. The new system that have been talking about gettinf for the past 5 years is suposed to let us do a lot more. But, we still can't do special orders. I have a very good friend that works at corp that keeps me informed on some good stuff.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but are these compressors still any good? Looking on HF web site they list two 60 gallon conpressors with the same specs but one is a three cylinder. Which is the better?

I have the older 2-cylinder model, which is pretty decent -- Italian pump with US tank and assembly. It's a 3,450 rpm motor, so it's not quiet, but it puts out a lot of CFM.

I'm not sure about the new 3-cylinder model, but I've heard they switched to lower quality pumps.

I'm not sure either. They even changed the "brand name" from US general to Central Pnuematic like their other smaller compressors. I have not looked at one up close to see what parts are on them.

Gonna have to swing by my local store and check them out. Should the motor say made in the USA?

I would assume no but who knows. The later US General models still had AO Smith motors but they were made in Mexico. I have an older one that says made in USA. AO Smith is now Century motors that is now owned by Regal Beloit. No idea if they are still using their motors.

Mine also has a Century motor from Mexico -- it looks to be of decent quality. I bought the compressor about 3-4 years ago. If you can find one of the older US General models in a local store, I'd definitely recommend it.

I don't have the compressor, but I have used a number of the compressor motors for various things and they haven't given me any problems.
