I saw that last night at the store - I wouldn't want to work on it every day, but for $59 it appears that it would work well for the occasional quick job or off-site work.

It's a knock off of the strong-hand portable welding table. I've had one of the originals for about 3 years and I've welded quite a few things on it. They are well thought out and nice.

I saw one at the HF store a few weeks ago. I didn't have time to look at it closely, but the size and shape are similar. They left off the wheels that are on the original strong hand table. I'm sure the table top is thinner.

Of course it's about 1/3 the price of the strong hand.

Looks pretty good. Couple that with a 25% off coupon and it brings it down to $45. I will definitely be picking one up soon!

I stopped by the HF store this morning to look at it and picked it up. It seemed solid enough for what I'm going to use it for, just pull it out and weld an occasional item instead of cleaning off my welding bench all of the time; which is what I should do. With the 25% off coupon, the price with tax was under $50.

I bought one last week and assembled it, but still haven't used it. Super handy for me since it folds up. I don't have room in my garage for a permanent welding table so this works. Better than me welding on my Keter folding table like I've been doing recently.

Bought mine last week too. With the 25% off coupon cost me $45. Can't beat that. Haven't had a chance to use it yet for welding, hopefully I can report this weekend.
Id does make a great portable bench for the chop saw in the interim. lol

I bought 2 of them, and have been using them the last few days while I build a new hay feeder for my animals.

They seem to work pretty good, and believe it or not, the side guides are actually square!

I will say that dragging steel across the tops, scratches the 'anodized coating' fairly easy. I have noticed the tops are a little flimsy, but for the price they are pretty solid. The framework is built well. I have sat on one and I weigh 200#....

Interesting tidbit... they are NOT made in china! they are from Vietnam.

I have one used it yesterday worked great for me. The tilt adjustment handle that is made of plastic was no good wouldn't hold the nut in place but the table is sturdy and square pretty good buy for 60 bucks

I went to my closest store and they only had the floor sample; which they wouldn't sell. The HF salesperson checked at the other stores in the area and found two that had them, so I went to the closest one and picked up the one that I got.

I wonder how the chinese feel about the chinese stealing their ideas and blatant patent infringement?

Personally I have the nomad. Works great. How that transfers over to the HF model I have no idea. But the design and idea is solid, the only variable is how cheap HF manufactured it.

I bought 2 yesterday after reading this thread. After putting the first one together, I found the weak link in the plastic adjustment handle as Mr. Memo said. This isn't anything that we can't modify easily. Both of mine had broken foot pads. I'll replace those with rubber end caps from my local Ace hardware.

I don't believe it folds flat and is not adjustable height wise but I'm thinking to mod it for Height adjustment

FWIW, they had one on display at my semi-local HF. It looked like it was worth taking home and giving it a try. ...but, you had to find an employee to bring one out to you if you wanted to purchase it and that seemed unlikely to happen at the time. So, I bought one online when I got home with a 25% off coupon. Shipping was their usual $6.99 flat rate per order. They are hit and miss on shipping speed though - I imagine it'll be about 10 days.

Even the stronghand nomad's table top is kindof...light.

These can't be too bad, direct copy as said above.

Went and checked it out today and bought it with the coupon. For less than $50 it's a good deal.

Middle of nowhere.
I looked at one last Saturday. They seemed well build. Except the plastic adjuster handles. Any way I just pulled the trigger on on for work. 25% off, $6.95 to ship it. Still cheap.

Looked over the table again yesterday, nearly bought it. I have a good sized table now, so there is no *need* for it actually. But you know how it is when you see any new tool you don't have.... yet.

The only real stickler for me is that it's too short! I don't want to have to sit in a chair or on a stool to do welding. I prefer a working height of 36" or so. This is down around 30" or lower. I'd have to bend over to use it and that would put me in a poor position to work with it.

The similar unit that Eastwood sells has adjustable vertical square posts. The HF one has a slide square tube mast that is welded to the hinge points. You could probably add some square tubing over this with pins to make it telescope and extend the height. If I had no table to work on, this would be my course of action.

Still tempted. It'd be a good field table for repairs away from the garage.

If you really want to buy a 'rip-off' of the already-kinda-light original Strong Hand Tools 'Nomad', go ahead I guess.

I don't buy copies of other peoples products just on principal! My REAL Nomad isn't bad, for what it is, but it would be very unlikely that a cheap copy is as good, and it's probably worse, which would be a deal-breaker for me.

It would be like buying imitation Snap On tools in my book, but it's probably not bad as a TV tray.

I've used mine a couple of times, I don't like the adjuster handles, but they seem to still be working. I'll probably change them out though.

A Chinese Copy of a Chinese table.... All or the Stronghand stuff is made in china. I bought two of these. it is a FAR better deal than the strong hand at about 47 out the door... or delivered... the strong hand is over priced. HF lists this one as overpriced then on sale. if it EVER sold for the listed regular price it would not be a bargain.

Good thread. Thanks.

I'm going out to look/buy one tomorrow.

I have found/printed a 20% discount single item coupon.

Where can I find the 25% discount coupon?

Don't get me wrong, 20% off is still a good price.

Finally gave mine a try this weekend. It sure beats the hell out of welding on the ground and being able to clamp my work easier was a treat. It's easily worth the 50-odd bucks.

I have some long-term concerns with the plastic adjuster handles but, they're easily replaced/upgraded if they ever break.

That is my concern. Looks like one could add height easy enough?
I'm not overly tall, 6ft. But bench height is always an issue.
Look at the guy welding in the link on the 1st post. Heck my back would not like that for long. I'm pushing 50 but my back is pushing 85.

I'm 6', I don't have a problem with mine. I took a look at the ad copy and it says 32 7/8 inch tall, same as a kitchen table really.

A good bench height is 36", I don't think I would like this one that tall, the base would need to be larger to accomodate the extra height (tipping over)
