With coupon it 19.99, thought I saw in january it be marked at 19.99 so likely get 20% coupon work on it but maybe not , 4 bucks not a big concern as they pretty decent lights .

I really wish it would fold back on itself parallel to the handle for storage, but that would require a more complicated (more expensive) hinge. I am impressed with the output and the magnet on the bottom is very strong- it has no problem sticking on to a vertical surface and with the light head folded out at any angle. I'm impressed with the size and functionality.

It uses a standard 18650 lithium battery (those used in laptop batteries) and easily available online. Having a battery you can swap out means you can charge a spare with an external charger and always be ready with light. If you get a green 18650 battery, those are upgraded and last longer. I disassemble laptop batteries to harvest these cells and usually find more than half of them good in a laptop battery.

I'm starting to think about getting one of those new 5 drawer carts in black.. the light it already on the way..

Thanks for your earlier post about the new lights! I've picked up one of the underhood lights, and three of the stick-lights (one of which made it's way to my pappy for Christmas).

I love my Astro 40SL, but there's been a couple places where it's flex-base just wouldn't get me the angle I wanted. These appear to be an identical copy of the 31SL.

Very nice stuff!

Can you recommend a good 18650 standalone charger?

Charger is built in, typical USB port and cord all you need. Xtar I have is essentially the same thing, just with the battery holder open. 18650 is the lithium size used in laptops to Tesla's.

Grab a free magnetic parts holder while you are at it.
I have my light stuck to it so it will stay upright when not on metal.
And holds hardware at the same time. Two birds, one stone.

I bought two a few days ago and immediately used them for a differential drain and refill. Very bright, good hold on metal, they feel substantial.

Just got one of these, too. Absolutely love it.

As noted above, it's really great that the battery is replaceable. 18650 cells are very common and if and when yours craps out, you can just pop in a new one instead of farting around with taking the tool apart and soldering. This trend needs to continue.

No, they don't sell 18650 batteries at WalMart, but they're used in just about everything with a rechargeable battery and they're easy to find online or in a vape shop.

The only knock against the thing I could find was the ****** paper warning sticker on the back of the light stalk. Of course it was on a little crooked, and of course it wouldn't just peel off cleanly...

I'd also really like it a little better if it could fold in half -- this would have required offsetting the hinge to one side, but it would make the light more easily portable. No big deal -- it's immensely useful as is, and sticks to my toolbox just fine.

For the $20 (with a coupon) you really can't beat it. And no, you can't stack a 20% off coupon on top of another coupon, ya greedy bastids...

I didn't even get the first one and I already want a second.. lol. I know the head folds down, does it swivel also? Now that would be real nice.. but yea I don't think it does.. meaning you can't fold the led part down 90 degrees, and then say turn or swivel the light part up or down down also...

Really starting to seem like HF has picked up the fact that if they just invest a few more dollars per unit into the stuff they sell, the consumers will gladly pick up that extra price for a good product that's still inexpensive.

It does not swivel but the magnet is flat on the bottom so you can just turn the whole light.

Actually walmart does have some westinghouse 18650 in the lawn and garden dept. I think they are meant for sprinkler timers or something. Can usually be found on clearance in the fall.

Also the next ad has the light on sale for $19.99 so you can use a coupon then.

Yea I was more meaning - let's say you stick the light perpendicular to a vertical wall, then you can fold the light down, so now the led part is horizontal and level, with the led light facing the wall in front of you.. Now what would be nice is if, as it was folded, you could then swivel or rotate JUST the led head, to say face up towards the ceiling, or down towards the floor without having to move the base or unfold the light.. that would be perfect..

So here's something-

I just tried to order a second light online.. applied the coupon, and the site said "sorry the limit for this coupon has been reached". Figured ok, I'll use my phone with a different IP address. Coupon applied, but as soon as I filled in my check out info it removed the coupon again.. guess I'll have to wait and actually find one in the store..
