Do you have any m12 stuff? If I bought you a new m12 Powerextra battery would you wanna test it? Obviously you keep the battery...

I've got mostly M12 stuff and I've got a few off brand batteries too. I'd have to go home and see what brand they are I can't remember. I've been wanting to do a video doing exactly this with an off brand battery and a real M12 anyhow so maybe this'll just be a good motivation to do that.

Yea - IF YOU WANT - pm me your address, and I'll buy a new 2.5mah Powerextra Battery and I'll have it shipped to you.. it's worth it for me just to satisfy my curiosity, and if they happen to be remotely decent MAYBE Id consider another one, but at least the rest of us can stop guessing at what's good and what's bad..

I was counting batteries yesterday- not including what I have for work, just my own personal stuff at home - I have something like 16 Milwaukee batteries between the m12 and M18 lines. lol.. it's sick... I know...

After reading all the good press on these lights I added one to my New Year (25%) order,
and naturally it is the only thing back ordered :)

I can't find my off brand battery right now but I'll search more tomorrow. If I can find it, and it's the same I'll test it otherwise I'll buy that one.

I've been using the two I bought a lot. I find I get about 2 hrs out of a charge in 30 deg F weather. A lot less than another HF light I have, but it is at full brightness until it turns off. I love the strong magnet!

Who knows?
I picked up two of these after work tonight.

For the money I'm quite impressed. I look forward to giving them a workout soon. That Braun under-hood light doesn't look half bad either.

Wife saw mine last night and ask if I would get her one to keep in her car. She was highly impressed with it as am I. I have had mine three weeks and it has been used almost every day either by me or my boys. I have three teenage boys and I have a feeling I will be buying 4 more of these but the wife will get hers first.

I was just considering picking one of those up myself, based on how well I liked the wand light. I'd like to see some feedback on them, too.

The Braun underhood light is pretty good for 30$. It's not the brightest, or the longest lasting but 30$ separates it from the competition quite a bit. I've got the FastCap FlexLight, the Astro 150SL, the HF Luminair and the HF Braun. Soon to acquire the Neiko and the M12.

i ordered 5 prior to Christmas deal and just got them on the 2nd. I could sell them all day for $40+. Everyone who sees one wants one right now, so I gave a couple away. Now to sell my Snapon LED work light before they are completely worthless.

I have this one - might not be the cheapest place to get it, just a link that showed up.. I got mine off a vape site and probably paid twice that.

I've bought NiCds from Battery Junction. They are good to deal with. I believe they have 18650s, as well.

It is nice that the 18650 battery is replaceable. But besides the amp hr rating of a replacement, there is somethibg else to consider. Lithium ion batteries catch fire if overcharged and are permanantly damaged if discharged too far. For this reason, there is always protective circuitry either in the device or built into the battery. If it is built into the battery, the case is slightly longer. They are called protected or unprotected 18650. Obviously, they are not physically interchangeable in most cases. You need to make sure any replacement is the right type, for safety as well as for fit. My guess is that these are protected. The unprotected ones are in high power devices like drills that have to supply a lot of current. The protection is external to the individual cells.

Bought 2 of them, not as bright as my Astro 40SLMAX, but the folding design makes it fit in spaces the astro is just too long for. Overall for $20 they are amazing.

I'm going to agree.

Been using mine for some rear suspension work, and they started shutting off automatically (low voltage cutout). I could immediately turn them back on, but they'd shutoff again 10-15 seconds later.

Plugged one of them in, left it overnight. Light turned red on plugin, was green this morning when I came to see it. Light is not warm at all, so I'm suspecting that it knows when it's charged, and disables charging at that point.

Bought the underhood one yesterday. Your description is spot on.

I use it under the covers with the wife, so I can find my way around!

Picked one up yesterday, got lucky as it was the only one left. Store manager said he can't keep those and the small "tactical" flashlights in stock.

They had 3 of the Braun underhood lights. That may be my next purchase.

Very impressed with the light. If you don't have one, I'd highly recommend it.

WHERE THE HELL IS MY LIGHT HF???!! Wtf!?

KC, I've only ordered one thing online from HF and won't ever do it again. Last year on Black Friday I ordered one of the TV wall mounts. Lowes had them as well but quickly sold out so I got the HF one. None in store so I ordered online. Took almost 3 weeks to get it via FedEx. Showed it came from California but they must have been waiting to get it off the boat.

Well it FINALLY came. Nice light, unfortunately the big led part only turned on once, and now it doesn't work anymore.. lol.. figures..

Should I start a thread ranting and raving about how HF *****??? Lol. I think not.. build quality it otherwise very nice. Again, I do wish the lighted part itself would swivel on the opposite axis that it folds, but no big deal.

Tightened the base? Recharged?

Yup.. it's fully charged now.. only thing that turns on is the tip.. :dunno:
I'll throw it in my work van and keep it with for the next time I pass a HF..

I'd probably pick up another one anyway if I can actually find them in a store.

As far as I can tell from the pictures, this isn't a copy of the Astro pneumatic 31sl light, it IS the Astro light....

Well, I say "copy" as I figured HF didn't source it from Astro, but that they went direct to the factory.

But who knows - maybe Astro is involved.

I'd sure like to see Astro Pneumatic on the shelf at HF, rather than a billion store brands...

Powerextra M12 battery arrived today. I'll start planning out a battery of battery tests and start testing the batteries. This one is a lot nicer than the last off brand M12 battery I had. The plastic is a lot heavier / more solid, and it even has a warning sticker on it like a real M12 battery.

I didn't even notice you responded to my Powerextra post.. but yes - that's it.. I woulda sent you one.. the top cap pops right off on those to expose the cells.

Yeah I've taken these M12s apart before. Interestingly, the cells are labeled as 2000mAh so, I'll test it but I don't suspect they'll quite hit 2500mAh... The cells are INR18650-20Q M Samsung cells. They don't appear to have a fake shell on them which these sometimes do. They look authentic. Also the soldering on this thing is at least as good as an authentic Milwaukee battery (Which is to say not great) and the PCB looks fairly quality. I'm going to characterize the thermistor in them as well as that's one thing that could be different and cause the off brand battery to behave differently in extreme conditions (Possibly one battery does or doesn't work at extremely high or low temperatures).
