Wonder if they are using used cells.. this is what was in mine.. I'd be AMAZED if those were real Samsung cells.. those are not LG cells. I'd be surprised if test came back better than 1800mah.

Yup.. it's fully charged now.. only thing that turns on is the tip.. :dunno:
I'll throw it in my work van and keep it with for the next time I pass a HF..

My coworker bought two. Told me I was missing out. Has had them for 2 weeks, and now 1 of them has stopped working. I don't usually buy stuff based on reviews of an item <1month old.

I picked mine up today on the way to work. HF had given me a rain check for the $19.95 sale price. Used it at work today, and so far, very happy. Very strong magnetic base, and the folding feature is excellent. They only had 6 lights hanging this a.m in NWI store.

So I made a detour to a hf today and they had the lights in stock. Returned the one I ordered online, and picked up 2. Guy rang it up on the register and said I owed him $10.. I tried telling him that couldn't be right, but he insisted.

I think what they did, was Instead of just exchanging the broken one, and ringing up a second for $19 - I think he refunded the light at full value ($29) and then rang up 2 more for $19 each.. I gave them my receipt with what I paid clearly printed on there, manager came over and everything. I told them I should owe you at least $20 or more - and they said no, its cause of the coupons.. there was a line behind me and I wasn't about to stand there and argue over my wanting to give them more money..

Anyway - both of these work.. really, really nice for the money.

Fyi - new coupon I dug up online is good till February.. I might go back and pick up that Viking jump pack too, just to keep in the work van.

As has been discussed, the Braun light has an unscrewable magnetic base that allows you to swap out the 18650 cell.

Painted the bathroom tonight.

Saved the wall with the light fixture for last. Removed the fixture. Normally I'd set up a work light to finish the job.

This time I grabbed the Braun. Braun in the left hand, roller in the right. Perfect!

My HF always has these things in stock but somebody must've come snagged a bunch or they're saving them for this weekend's big sale because they were all gone tonight.

It has been mentioned a couple times in this thread, but its not super obvious.
The light folds back and forth, AS WELL AS pivots left and right on the handle.
Mine was pretty tight on the pivot.
This is really a great design, and mine has performed well in fairly rough use.

Does anyone actually own the Astro light like this? I'm betting it's exactly the same..

I've been really tempted to buy it to find out but it's so expensive in comparison... I could almost buy the Neiko underhood on eBay special and get closer to my video shootout.

I have a 31SL.
Bought it at least a year ago for $40, which i wouldn't consider expensive for a rechargeable light - but then again i don't shop at HF.

It's the same light, but came in a color box with a foam insert, had a wall charger, 2600mAh battery instead of 2200mAh, and comes with a 1 year warranty. I don't use it much since getting a 40SL, so I don't really get the comparison people make. But I suppose if I only paid $20 for a light and it didn't **** I would be pretty fond of it.

Does the cap on the bottom of the 31SL unscrew to remove the battery?

Is the power button supposed to have a hole in the center?

I have never seen a power button that looks like this almost like its upside down.

Thanks Basstracker34 I just wanted to check before I take the light out of its packaging.

I could not see the green light in the button because this light is so bright.

I see the excitement has died off. Been working on a few projects lately and I find that every other light I have ***** in comparison to this one. So... I'll be picking up at least one more to have around.

I really like mine for the price. However, I'm usually working on non magnetic stainless equipment so I don't get to take advantage of the magnetic base. The fender washer suggestion was good for flat surfaces. I need to find a hook of sorts to attach to the base.

IMO 20 dollars is a good deal for it, and I'm a light snob. I have lots of 18650s lying around so I don't bother trying to recharge via the internal charger.

I finally bit the bullet and bought one instead of fixing my craftsman one. I went and looked at it but seeing how small it was, decided it must be junk the first time, then looked at it again a few weeks later and still figured it wouldn't be useful.

After doing without a light for a month I ended up getting it anyway with the coupon because I didn't feel like messing with the craftsman battery pack.

Wow were my first impressions wrong. Way better than the craftsman I was using. small yeah but way brighter, and the power button is a million times better as well. like the heft and the metal body, as well as the magnet (which came off my craftsman and is stuck on someones vehicle somewhere...)

I will probably end up getting another for the car. Think they've got a winner with this one. only drawback is having to keep a usb cube on the cable to plug it in wherever.

Its pretty nice. I installed an outlet on the shop ceiling last week, kinda dark to see the outlet connections. Stuck the light to the metal handy box, swiveled 90 deg. and shed plenty of light on the subject. Its small and doesn't get in the way. Might get a second one....

They have been sold out in this area since before Christmas. I know three guys wanting them that are waiting for them to come back in stock.

Been to my local store twice and still sold out. Just bought 2 inline for coupon price and 6.99 shipping. Not about to check the store again and come out empty handed.

My local store has 10 in stock..........I stopped by there this morning.

I have 3 of the Braun lights currently, and stopped myself from buying another

Love my Braun light. I bought some extra 18650 batteries so I can just swap in a fresh battery when the light dies. Battery life is decent, but not enough. Swapping a fresh battery makes it only a minor annoyance.
