The longer I use my Braun light, I'm less happy with it. I've got the switch issue too. Now its almost a strobe, flickering all the time. I bought a Chinese Astro clone off off ebay for $12 and its been superior. Its got the rotary switch to turn the light on and turn up the brightness. The only drawback is that you can't remove the battery and switch them out like the Braun model. Other than that, its a better mousetrap for me.

Has anyone experienced flickering on their light? Mine flickers, not sure if that just because of the battery needing to be recharged. I find myself recharging this a lot. Short intervals between charging, is this normal?

I've owned mine for a few months now. Not being used every day like some guys here, but I'm pretty hard on it. It's still holding up, but my biggest annoyance with it is the battery life. On the brightest setting, I would be surprised if it lasted ~ 30 mins. I ended up getting a Snap On magnetic work light, so the Braun gets less use. Just a back up at this point.

No flickering on my two lights. And I have bought newer higher capacity batteries for it, but even with the stock batteries, I felt the batteries lasted quite a while.

Mine only flickers when the battery is dying. Usually right as the button turns red.

I get over an hour, and only use it on the brightest setting. I get a little less time with some really cheap aftermarket batteries. I have not spent the money on better batteries to see if it extends run-time for me, but I have a friend who has, and he claims 2+ hours per charge.

I've got 3 brauns, 2 used daily in my auto shop for about 11 months, 3rd as spare but no issues yet, they been dropped and beat pretty hard, both switches are fine and I use samsung cells and get between 3 to 4hrs per charge .
I'm very pleased with them and generally don't get much more than 18months out of an astro before it busted and you can't swap cells on astro like can on the braun plus easier get good lighting angle on the braun .
I got 2 of the copy astro's off ebay less than 10 bucks each use them at home as be lucky last 3 days of shop use as real flimsy low quality plastic, light output good but far from being durable.

I do wonder if current brauns have lesser quality switch as seen lot of complaints on more recent purchases during stock shortage period so wonder if part souring altered !

If your braun half as good as mine been it total bargain for 20bucks .

my 2 are doing great. I use them a lot and they get banged around in my travel tool bag. every other week I travel to one of our shops so lots of banging during air travel. I was given 2 battery's from a Tech that quit Vaping they last longer.

I just bought 2 weekend before last and I'm putting them to use at work in a busy equipment repair shop so We'll see how they hold up. I won't outright abuse them but they may get the occasional fall or whiskey dent. They do a great job lighting up all the cabinets, cabs and dark holes of the machines I work on so I really want them to work out. Reading this thread doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies though......

Well that didn’t take long for the first light to **** the bed. It wasn’t really it’s fault though, it’s all on me. Unknown to me I stuck it to a spot that had a very slow water drip and was dripping on the light just right and killed it dead. Totally inoperative. I have it apart to dry it out and see if anything changes but it doesn’t look good.

Beware guys, it took maybe a medicine dropper full of water to kill this thing. Seriously. They are not sealed well and don’t like water AT ALL.

Well, here’s an update on my week old light that got wet and quit working. I took it apart and let it dry thoroughly and tried it this afternoon and it works again. Got it charging now and I’ll see how it does long term. I wasn’t going to try and warranty it since it was my fault so I’m glad it worked out ok.

I finally found some in stock and bought one with the $20 coupon. I really like it so far. I've used it about 4 times recently, and I even dropped it once with no harm done. I'm a flashlight guy, so I have some better 18650 batteries if necessary. So far so good!

Looks like they're $18.99 (no coupon) during the Black Friday sale on November 23-25. Of the three I have, I just warrantied one out today - it would randomly shut off even when fully charged and often not come on with the first push of the switch. I'm still quite happy with them and will pick up another on BF. Of course finding a ferrous surface to attach the magnet to under the hood of our old Volvo is a trick - everything is aluminum, plastic or fiber mat covered:)

As i mentioned before for my light stopped working and after trying to take it apart i just forgot about it.Somebody pointed out they were able to get theirs working by pressing the switch at the 4 o'clock position. That worked for a while but then i had to "hunt" for the sweet spot to get it to turn on.Looking at the switch through the top, i noticed the button seems to be offset from the rubber (membrane?) part. Going in through the top with a pick i tries to move the rubber part, i dont think i moved very much, if at all, but now the switch works much better.

Was at the local Harbor freight yesterday. They actually had 7 of the slim lights in stock. I like mine so much I ended up buying a second one yesterday. Maybe I got lucky but it's nice to see them in stock again.

Does anyone that has one of these know if the battery is easily replaceable? Not immediately obvious to me just looking at the pictures. The Harbor Freight light is appealing to me as you can just unscrew the end and replace the battery.
Pretty sure its all sealed up. I have one and it doesnt seem easy to open up.

Thanks, it does look that way from the pics. I'll probably just stick with the HF\Braun light as I have tons of 18650 batteries already.

I have only used mine a couple of times and it fell from under the car I was working on and went dead instantly. It will light up when the cord is attached but will not work on battery. I’ve checked the battery and it showed good state of charge, I’m thinking something internally that is open. My warranty period is passed and I would like to repair it. How easily do they come apart?

I'm guessing newer stock has less quality switch perhaps, I bought 3 almost year ago, 2 in daily use in auto repair shop and 1 as spare. Not used spare yet beside short QC test run and they all been fine, even expensive lights normally only do me 18months so been pleased with these as 3rd of the cost and don't care so much if lost or damaged in use .

I have two in my shop. One goes out all the time with the slightest bump. The other one would not turn on at all. I took it apart yesterday and looked inside. It will turn on with a lot of force. I am not sure how to remove the switch without breaking anything. I really like these lights and they are great when they work but they don't seem to last long. I may cut my losses and order an Astro.
