Orange?! That's it, I'm in! :D

Me, too! Where can I buy a set of the orange ones?

For those asking what they are particularly good for...

I do a fair amount of low-to-medium voltage, high amperage work. Think of a large UPS (Battery Back-Up) cabinet. And I'm not talking about one that could fit under your desk. I'm talking about a cabinet that's the size of a UPS truck, and delivers maybe 3,000 amps.

Imagine what would happen if your metal ratchet shorted the terminals of that baby. If you're lucky, it might just spark and throw the ratchet across the room in a spectacular manner while giving you 3rd degree burns. Or - if you're less lucky - it may instantly arc-weld itself in place across the terminals and rather quickly glow bright red before it melts into a puddle of slag. Or, it may cause the batteries to short out, overheat, and explode, spraying the nearby area with acid/caustic jelly and resulting in what is generally called a REALLY bad day.

)

They also work great when working on starters and other heavy electrical circuits on cars and trucks.

I just left my local HF with one of each.. they had piles of them. I haven't used them yet as I'm at work, but they seem really nice.. smooth ratcheting, selectors are metal, and the handles are comfy. I think these are going to become my go-to ratchets

If you are looking for the orange handled ones, I was at an O'Reilly yesterday and saw some. They came in a socket set that was like $20. I looked but didn't see any separately. Hope that helps.
Cheers, JimDon

went to HF yesterday and saw many composite ratchets on the wall. I didn't buy anyone though, because they look ... wired.

I did purchase one of each size of the HF chrome "snap on" look-a-like ratchets about 4 years ago. They are 48T, work well and instead of being my back-ups, are usually my go-to ratchets now. But I felt bad about being a part of the problem at Sears, and went back to get a set of their USA made professional 84T ratchets - which cost far more than $7 each.

While a plastic ratchet may have it's benefits, it looks goofy and will not stand up to my usage, because I usually abuse my tools. For a couple bucks more, you can get a good working, good looking HF ratchet.
