I decided to use the freebie composite ratchet my friend gave me. And I notice that it is the noisiest ratchet I have ever used. And the selector does feel funky when switch. It works well.

So is that normal for the composite ratchet being so much louder when using?

Superlube helps. I think the plastic housing doesn't suppress the noise like a think metal housing. All in all, its a good ratchet for 8 bucks.

They are 2 good ratchets 1/4 and 3/8. I like the swing of the gearing.

Wish the selector was not such a funky feel. It is not crisp.

Mine is a little louder than most of my other ratchets, but i really don't mind a loud ratchet as long as the action is nice, and the action IS nice on these ratchets. They're a bargain, in my opinion.

I notice they are a bit louder than most, but feel pretty smooth. A good deal for the price, but I prefer my Cman thin profiles which for $50 really didn't cost much more.

I think he is refering to the Permatex Engine Assembly Lube.

Yessir, the red lube. There is also a green Permatex grease that some prefer, at least for certain designs of ratchets. I have never tried that, though.

The composites I bought were pretty much dry as a bone inside. Lubed them up they quieted up quite well.

The selector switch is pretty crappy on these IMO. They just feel funky. If you tighten them too much, they don't want to switch easily. If left too loose they feel like they're going to fall apart.

All in all, still not a bad ratchet for the price.

I open them up today, and they were dry as a bone. I lube them up with gun oil. And they are even smoother. And a little more quite. But still not like a metal head.
