I got one last week and love it. It has more torque than I expected and I have used it a good bit and still haven't had to swap batteries yet. How it holds up in the log run will be the biggest question. I got the ratchet for $83.19 so I think its well worth it.

How does the durability feel? Do you think it will hold up to abuse in a shop? Trying to decide if I should wait and spend the extra money for the new fuel ratchets but I'm getting impatient.

General consensus on Earthquake tools is that they are a good buy. I wouldn't be surprised if they were being cranked out of the same factory

It feels solid and seems to be of good quality. It feels a little heavier that the Milwaukee cordless ratchet. The speed is a little slower than the Milwaukee but I like it slower. If you have ever used a air ratchet you know you can get hurt quick because it will ****** you pretty hard when a nut bottoms out.

The Milwaukee was around $160 when I was looking at them so its about half price. The harbor freight one comes with a battery and charger. Its not a bare tool.

I got my Milwaukee From Northern Tool, with a $20 off $100 or more purchase Makes it at current cost about $129... Complete kit, my take away is the following (YMMV, YGWYPF, etc...) I can go to Northern, Home Depot, Clark's Tool, Sutherlands and a number of other retailers to get a Milwaukee Battery, Should I need one, I have a Tungsten Grinder that ALSO runs on the M12 Batteries, Only M12 tools I have, Plus I have a high capacity M12 Battery. How available are extra batteries for the HF tool? Any of the HF Tools? Hell a Co-Worker has a Snap-On 20v 3/8 Drive Impact gun that will twist off 3/8 Grade 8 fasteners.... None of the HF stuff will do that I am pretty sure!

Northern tool has it listed for $159 so even with $20 off I was able to get o get the Hf ratchet and extra battery for around $40 cheaper. My other cordless tools are dewalt. If they were Milwaukee I probably would have payed more to stay with the same brand. I had been looking at the Milwaukee for awhile because we have some of there tools at work and they are quality tools. I have a friend who installs brush guards and lift kits and he is on his third Milwaukee ratchet. He said that it's not as durable as his other Milwaukee tools. Now he could be abusing them but I didn't want to risk putting that much money into a tool that might not last. This tool might break tomorrow (hopefully it will last years) but I thought is was worth a try for the money. Only time will tell.

I went to look at them, and the thing is HUGE.
I bought a Milwaukee instead, I love it. Should have bought one sooner.

I bought a hf earthquake ratchet last week, replaced my troublesome m12.
Today I found a strand of aluminum in one of the vents, not sure if it came from inside it or not, I don't know if this is sign of bad news or what. Seems to work good.

I bought one because it is made by Durofix. Which is who makes ACdelco. It is very powerful and is better than the Milwaukee. with a coupon it is less than $80

It looks really nice but like has been said it's a bit large. I pulled the trigger on the non Fuel Milwaukee set. Home Depot has the 1/4" and 3/8" in a kit with a charger and two 2.0 batteries for $199. At that price I couldn't justify the Earthquake unit especially with there not being a 1/4" available. I wanted Fuel but at $480 for all three just bare tools I couldn't swallow that either.

I played with the HF in the store, I couldn't tell for sure, but trying to use it a regular ratchet, the drive seems really stiff.. for the money, I'd still say it's probably worth it..

Can I use the 20% off coupon on this ratchet since it is an Earthquake item? It is $109.00 in the Black Friday ad but it doesn't look like it is a coupon. I see people are getting it for $83.00 in this thread and I am not sure how that works.

The drive needs to be really stiff on an air ratchet. If it is not when you pull the trigger it will just sit there and move back and forth and not turn. A common fix for cheap air ratchets is to remove the guts from the head and squeeze the yoke back together to tighten it up. When you get sick of doing that you **** it up and purchase a SnapOn air ratchet and never have the issue again.
