I traveled down to the Amherst,NH store to pick up a utility trailer that was on clearance( great deal , by the way:thumbup:).I took a bunch of 20% off coupons that I got from this site and also 2 that had been emailed to me so I could buy a bunch of other stuff. The store manager refused them and said the company policy was changing on internet coupons.:wtf: He said that from now on only the original coupon( absolutely no copies) would be accepted, preferably not cut from the whole page.Also...only 1 per day...not 1 per visit! He also said internet codes would not be accepted in any stores!:shocking: He refused to budge at all...so I left with my trailer and drove 5 hours home.I was very disappointed to say the least.:(:shocking::wtf::confused:

How does that work? Do they have special allowances for ITC members regarding coupons or something?

I have printed the same 20% off coupons multiple times and used them on the same day. I always give them my Inside Track card when making purchases and have had no issues. Yes, Inside Track members get additional discounts on some items every month and are offered day ahead purchasing on advertised to the public special sale days.

I can't speak about the manager at that store, but I did notice that once I checked out and got the free flashlight, free multi-meter, and free screwdrivers, then the next visit I was told I had to choose one only.

Not a big deal, but it was a change at that particular store. Different cashiers, though. How much can one argue over their fourth flashlight, etc.?

My point is their coupon policy is a moving target at the Amherst store.

Just used my printed out coupons over the weekend and they didn't give me any beef other than a few happened to be expired. Some wouldn't even scan so she had to manually enter the coupon code. I'd go there when that manager isn't working lol

But how do you give an original from an ad on the internet? Doesn't make any sense.

it all depends on the coupons you use. there will always be execption to the fact. look at home depot, they wont take any printed coupon, has to be orginal. unless its some internet only coupon then they accept it, but it says that right in the fine print.

this is talking all those 20% coupons that were copied from a magazine.

First thing I'd do is call & ***** to customer service:

1-800-444-3353, Monday thru Friday, 6:00 am to 4:30 pm PST.

HF CS has been great to me - no complaints at all.

I'm guessing this had more to do with it being a clearance item than on any real change in policy. I don't know why they wouldn't just tell you that though...

They're obviously not going to stop accepting printed coupons. They still e-mail them to people for "in-store" use only.

These stories confirm my thoughts on H.F. as a company. However in most cases internet sales items and store items can be priced completely different with coupons that are good for internet sales only. Sears is a prime example of this. The same item listed in the catalog can have a different price than the store and even a different price on the internet. Go Figure....

Well, unless that changed a couple days ago, that manager is FOS!

Jim

This was as of yesterday...he said this change is coming all over the country! This has to do with downloading coupons from places other than HF...their official coupons are going to look different in the future. All I can tell you is what the manager said....this is a corporate thing ,not the store!:wtf:

No ...this had nothing to do with the trailer.I already knew that no coupons could be used with any "clearance" item. This also has nothing to do with the so-called "super" coupons....they will gladly accept those. This is the 20% off coupons you find all over the net.Last month those same coupon numbers worked on the website....tried 2 the other night and the site said that they were not "applicable". Something is surely going on with this issue. By the way....I was not nearly as impressed with HF stuff in person as I am online:dunno: I ended up buying only the spare tire that goes with the trailer.I am super happy with the trailers quality!!!!!

It's too bad there can't be some kinda database for people who want the printed magazine coupons. I throw a lot of them away and it pains me. I get Peterson's 4WOR each month, and HF is now putting coupons in the monthly mag my electric utility sends me each month.

I was sending all the coupons to my BIL but he's got too many as it is. I don't have any stores near me so I rarely use the in-store coupons unless on a trip.

Someone should PM me, I'll send them along. Give me a PO box if you think I'm a crazy 'net stalker.....

Hey Mr.onetwo, I too go to the Amherst NH store, religiously, & Mike the mgr. is a moody sob. I have had no issues with any of the other staff. I have them go out back all the time to check on stuff for me. If Mike gave me any **** at all, i'd say i have a couple thousand dollars worth of stuff to drop off for him to return. There's always Lowes across the street or Home Depot a mile away. Sorry your long drive didn't turn out so well

Not too long ago I posted this very same subject. The cashier at the HF closer to my home told me once they switch to new computer systems they would no longer accept photocopied coupons. The HF by my work never tells me this & is where I go more often than the one by my home. Just today I used a photocopied 20% coupon of a sale price without no questions asked.

I was in the Rochester, ny store two days ago and the mgr. and a customer were discussing this subject. The mgr. was saying that they are no longer accept printed out copies because people were altering them before they printed them. He actually made the comment, " When we look up the item and the person's coupon brings the price down so much that the price ends up under cost, we know there is a problem".

This was the Ridge rd. store, for any locals wondering.

HF coupon "fine print" BS drove me off

I had a similar problem with my HF store, using their hard-copy flyer coupons. Took the flyer to the store with the 20% coupon to get a small 12v air compressor and some other tool that I don't remember, when I got to the checkout the employee said "those coupons don't apply". What????

She said "read the fine print". THE FINE PRINT WAS ILLEGIBLE. Seriously, NO ONE could read it. So bad that HF Corporate had sent out enlarged versions of the fine print for the cashiers to reference.

Talked to the manager, was told "I can't do anything about it." How's that for empowerment?

If it was my screwup I'd just kick myself and move on, but this is borderline deceptive advertising. Took my money and went home. Ended up just getting a compressor from Wal-mart, which frankly has worked just fine for me.

Doubt if I'll ever darken the floor of a HF store again. :(
