I'm looking at purchasing one of these jacks and wanted to ask before I did, if HF ever has coupons on these? I didn't know if the price was pretty much always set. Thanks.

$179 is as cheap as I've seen em, and that is what my son spent on his. Works great. Though it appears as there is a $99 coupon for the colored ones

You want the yellow one, which isnt on sale as often as the others. I believe the 20% coupon doesnt apply to it either, but you can always try and see of your store will let it.

It's also the one involved in the Snapon lawsuit.

I'm gonna catch heat for saying this, but it's also the only one worth buying from HF in my opinion. I have first hand seen too many HF Jack's with problems. If you aren't going for the yellow Daytona Jack from HF, add just a little bit more cash and head down to napa. Napa offers pretty good jacks as well.

I know alot of people swear by hf jacks. I use my Jack alot more than just 2-3 times a year. If you will barely ever use it then maybe.

I know, I know. I'm not knocking on hf stuff. Some things are worth buying and good value. Some things just aren't. Just my opinion though

Last week I found myself in the middle of an off-site job and my 15+ year old jack started leaking down. There was a HF around the corner, so I found a $179 coupon and picked up the yellow Daytona jack (knowing it wasn't supposed to work, I tried the 20% off coupon anyway- no luck). So far I've been very impressed with it, for the price. Granted, I haven't used it a whole lot just yet.

what issues? I have the old silver 3 ton low pro ( for years) and the orange long reach low pro Daytona, no problems with either, and I use them weekly.

My silver low profile died without any warning. Just won't lift any weight now. Waited two weeks for the new long reach low profile to show up locally. Gave up and ordered one. Still waiting on it to ship almost a week later.
Going to check out NAPA and possibly cancel my order if they have a low profile.

I've seen em loose fluid constantly, make ungodly screeching noises, stop lifting after so much weight well under rating, slowly drop back down, broken handles (I know an easy fix but still something I'd prefer not to deal with if I'm spending 100 plus on) etc

Maybe there not bad jack's entirely, maybe there's just really bad quality control.

If it works for you than that's great, I just personally wouldn't want to gamble my money on it even if they are cheap

strongly consider the aluminum jacks. Your back will thank you. Plus much easier to maneuver around.

I had a (Napa knockoff)15yo Norco stop working and picked up the yellow Daytona a couple years back. In light use, it has worked well.
Scott, you're kinda antsy. Maybe use the trunk jack for a couple times in the next week. :D

There's only one real Daytona jack. The rest are fakes.

Your picture does this Jack justice, almost more justice then it deserves Haha. I think the yellow is bold but not the most appealing, except Wamsutta's apparently.

Chevy, it should work well for more than just light use, if by light use you mean civics and smart cars here and there. I bought one too after my napa Jack went out. My napa jack was a hand me down my grandfather had, I have a lot of hand me downs I've gotta start replacing. That napa Jack was awesome I believe it was over 25 years old and for the 9 years I owned it I never once checked if it was low on fluid or took care of it in anyway. I dont think it was serviceable anyways, not sure because I never really payed attention that's how abusive i was to it. I bought the yellow Daytona but am still a bit regretful i didn't get another napa instead.

Oh well

I recently picked up a yellow Daytona with the $179 coupon. It’s definitely heavy duty compared to the old 2 ton Larin I’ve been using forever, which was originally my grandpas farm jack. But I’ve been impressed so far, excited to see how it fairs long term.

The yellow one is 103lbs, while the colored ones are 79lbs according to the website. Seems to be a big difference between the two.

Seriously? Do you have a lot of friends that have experienced these failures or are you simply recounting things you have read on the internet?

I personally used the silver, low profile, long reach jack for years with absolutely zero issues. Maybe I just got lucky?

Mine lived a long and productive life until I loaned it to a friend that used it to jack up an F250 diesel on uneven ground and bent the frame of the jack.

He now owns a slightly warped but still fully functional Harbor Freight low profile long reach jack.

FLS - I hope I don't sound like too much of an old coot here (even tho I guess I am one), but here's the thing: the jack you can buy at NAPA now probably isn't quality-equivalent to the jack that your grandpa bought at NAPA 25 years ago. Which is not to say anything against NAPA, or jacks, or your grandpa, or anything like that -- just that times have changed. The other change is that the (*cough*) imported jack you can get at most places is probably going to cost less relative to the prevailing average hourly wage than it did when your grandpa got his jack.

I agree with you 100%, that's why I still ask recommendations, even though they've been asked dozens of times within the last 10 years . Any topic I could probably think of has probably been thoroughly discussed before on here, but as you mentioned alot has changed I the last 10 years, even 5 years, but especially in the last 25.

The napa Jack I have I believe was USA made, now there assembled in us with Chinese parts? I think. I can say we have a huge 7 day a week napa nearish and just last month I messed with the napa professional Jack and it felt great. Not by a huge margin, but it felt better them my Daytona. I have a feeling they will still last long enough that the price is of value.

Gone with the walker Lincoln Jack's, succeeded by the Chinese.

And then income as you mentioned, one earner for one family has become 2 earners for one family, especially if you buy domestic products.

Which realllly means, make your wife buy you a US Jack.

lol! yes, that's an excellent plan -- now all we have to do is get the wives of America to get with the program and we'll be all set!

I'm looking at these posts, because I'm considering one of the HF Low Profile floor jacks...
I have a Blackhawk, I bought 50 years ago...a Craftsman(japan)probably 45 years ago, and a Lincloln when they were still USA...and 2 HF aluminum - the 1st 2 ton they came out with, and the $59 dollar one I keep in my truck.
All have never failed me...it's been awhile, but I've drained and flushed, and added clean hyd. oil a few times...

Thought about that, but it doesn’t get high enough for my stands.
