I inherited a HF Dust Collector. Item number 61790.

During the setup I discovered that the switch is loose. It appears to be missing the key that would allow me to turn it on. See photo.

Can I buy a replacement key for the switch? Can I replace the switch? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I opened up the switch. Looks like 4 wires. Would the ones you recommended work?

I found if you need a part like a switch or carburetor you can get the numbers or letters or name off of it and google or do an amazon search and find it. Did that when I broke the carburetor then later burnt out the plug on my Chinese special yard sale generator.

The switch mechanism is nothing special aside from a removable key.... it just switches off both line and neutral. so any double pole single throw switch with the proper amp rating would have worked. DPST..

I just used a wall light switch on mine it is the 1hp correct? 15 amp wall switch works fine.

It’s 2HP 15amps. I’m thinking the powertec toggle switch on Amazon should be fine. I do have a question. I see 4 wires. Green (ground), black (hot), white (neutral), the 4th wire also looks white, is this another neutral wire?

You should be switching:
white to white
Black to an unknown color(can't see it clearly, look black), should be black or red, but not green

Green should be ground, does not seem to go to your switch.

Just in case you are wondering...

This is how the key looks like... at least the one on my HF dust collector is.. I believe it's the same model (mine is a 2HP)... I got it off some guy on craiglist few months ago.

The closest matching one looks like its a royabi one, if you search"plastic key for safety switch"... price is cheap enough, just not sure about it after shipping and handling... probably you can file flat the pattern and make it work.... or make yours out of a metal shim.
