Too bad I paid more than that for mine. Still I am very happy with it. There are usually coupons in the car magazines for $69 or $75 if anyone misses this sale.

This months Petersons 4 wheel and offroad has a $69 coupon.

Edit: whoops, I guess I should have looked at minus the 20% coupon...cheaper than magazine coupon route.

Any air tool that demand air intermittently like impact wrench, it does not require large power compressor. Typically 5cfm @ 90psi will pop off a Honda crank bolt

I have one and am considering buying another just in case it craps out in the future! I love this gun, extremely powerful.

If that's what you are using it for, any compressor with a few gallon tank will work.

You just need enough stored air to run the gun for five seconds or so. And a big enough regulator and hose to supply the air volume without too much pressure drop.

You only need a bigger compressor if you hope to remove more than one lug nut before waiting a few minutes for the tank to refill.

BTW, that's an excellent use for an impact tool. An impact wrench can be cheaper than buying a model-specific counter-hold tool to use a regular wrench when changing the timing belt

If you read the fine print on the 20% coupon, it can't be combined with other discounts. They usually only take it on full price merchandise around here.

The specs is generally seen with 20-30gal compressor setup.

Honda crank bolt is like no other crank bolt. Honda crank bolt is generally a bench mark test for all 1/2" impact.

Really? I've only done one timing belt change on a Honda, but it wasn't any big deal. Not at all like some other nuts (BMW axle nuts and transmission output flanges, or even Honda rear suspension fasteners) which took lots of impact time plus heat.

link below is bad example bc the guy misused his SO extension but it gives you an idea of somebody talk about a bolt - elementary topic.

I can't help but wonder how many honda owners have sent their cars in for service, and had their crank bolts installed and removed many times in mechanic's impact wrench ******* contests.

I don't wrench automotive, I do ag equipment, but I'd hope to see this legendary crank bolt some day.

Why do these honda guys not just put a large breaker on it, put the bar against something solid, and crank the motor? Many an old mechanic has told me of using this trick many times for stubborn bolts. I cannot help but wonder how honda crank bolt vs honda starter motor would end up.

The 20% off coupon can't be used with other coupons, but it can be used on sale priced items.

I've used many 20% off coupons on sale items at multiple HF stores and I've never been denied.

I've always been able to stack it on top of sale prices as well. In store results sometimes can be variable depending on the cashier, but the fact you can stack the 20% coupon on top of sale items on the website, to me, is a pretty good indicator that is the way it is intended to be.

Me too. Nearest one is 45 minutes away.
Shipping from the website has always been cheap, but when I go in person, I get extra savings by bringing my wife, giving her the second most expensive item on my list, and then I can use two 20% coupons that trip.
Those savings are eaten up by having to make extra stops for her shopping, but I still try.

Got this deal last night. Technically the gun went back up to 94.99 but they still had the sign up. Spent 5 minutes arguing with the manager that they also had to take my 20% off coupon, but they gave in so I got the $63 price. Good call OP.

I have done this! It broke both the impact socket and the breaker bar :lol_hitti. It did NOT break loose the crank bolt.

I gave in and hit it with some heat and the impact got it loose.

I guess if it works, it works.

I could not bring myself to use heat on that kind of thing. I'm not saying it's wrong, but I just don't have the nerve to use it on engine parts.

I've been thinking about one for a while, and held the display model at HF a few days ago. Very unbalanced. Quite nose heavy. Total weight was also a little high for an impact in that power range.
I passed that time, but if it had still been on that hot sale that occurred recently, and I could have stacked a 20% on that, I would probably still have gotten one for use as a spare.

Those Honda bolts can be a pain especially if its from the early 90s Accord. My solution was to grab a powerful 3/4" gun because none of my 1/2" could do the job.

The Honda crank bolt is tough, breaker bar helps but the trick is having something to keep the pulley itself from moving .

I have a husky gun that's crapping out , it leaks and spins on its own sometimes , I think I'm going to try th HF gun next .

Anyone have a long term review on it ? Cause some HF tools are great for the first couple of weeks and then they turn to ****.

If your only "contribution" to a thread discussing a sale on the HF Earthquake impact gun is to bash the brand, take a hike.

In fact, since this is the deals forum, perhaps you could even post a deal on an impact gun you think is better.

Sorry if I offended you, but I think Harbor Freight "tools" are a good deal the same way a used Yugo is a great car. If I showed up on a jobsite with a bucket full of Harbor Freight tools, I'd be laughed off the jobsite for good reason...Cheap tools are a disgrace. But hey, if you want cheap Commie tools made by 12 year olds, then have at it....

Will do!!!

Then when I show up to the job-site with 15 times more tools than you (including the ones that get the job done), and you show up with the wrong overpriced tool because you couldn't afford the correct one as well, the boss will laugh at you and tell you to go home. He'll weigh out in his head (thought: is it more important to get the job done or have overpriced tools??).

Side note: IMO lots of tools at HF are poor quality, but many are not.

I don't think you know what you're talking about in this case. The Earthquake impacts are made in Taiwan, so they're not "Commie tools."

HF has a lot of junk, but there are some good tools, too. I don't personally own one, but many people here have the Earthquake impact and really like it. HF has some cheaper impacts that are junky, based on the reviews I've read, but the Earthquake impacts seem to be an entirely different animal.

In the future, you may want to do a little more research before bashing a tool. But then again, why let facts/research/GJ reviews get in the way of a good rant...

Further (and I realize I'm contributing to the derail), this specific sub-forum, for deals posting, is NOT the place to rant about not liking a specific brand.

It's for the posting of the deals.

Like I said - if you know of a deal on better impact guns, then post them away. People will appreciate the variety of deals brought to their attention.
