I can't help but wonder how many honda owners have sent their cars in for service, and had their crank bolts installed and removed many times in mechanic's impact wrench ******* contests.

I don't wrench automotive, I do ag equipment, but I'd hope to see this legendary crank bolt some day.

Why do these honda guys not just put a large breaker on it, put the bar against something solid, and crank the motor? Many an old mechanic has told me of using this trick many times for stubborn bolts. I cannot help but wonder how honda crank bolt vs honda starter motor would end up.

The honda crank spins "backwords" by using the engine to turn it you will tighten the bolt...

LOL $72 or 'make offer' and he wouldn't take $68? That's pretty funny.

His current price is apparently a temporary 20% off sale price, so perhaps he is not accepting offers for that reason. :dunno:

Great. My older HF impact (IR copy) just started blowing air through it this week with no spin on the anvil. Perfect timing.
I guess I can just give them this code at the register?

I have the older Earthquake and the current one. The older one has a vinyl boot and looks to be a close copy of the IR Thundergun.

Let me just say this... the older, well used EQ is still significantly stronger than the new barely used version. I work full time as an ambulance mechanic and the older EQ has been my primary impact gun for over 5 years (and I had it for several years before that, but only for personal use). I recently switched to a Napa composite gun as my primary tool, only because the EQ guns are just too heavy. When I have a situation where another gun can't do the job, I always go for the older EQ. In the very rare case it can't do the job I go for my IR 3/4", but that is a different category of tool all together.

I will probably sell my near new EQ on ebay soon, not because it is a bad tool, just because I don't need it.

I'm an auto tech and used one in a professional setting daily for almost 2 years. I bought this when the gun first came out when I was in a pinch! (paid around $70 with coupon I think) The tin "stickers" on the side fall off and the anvil eventually wore out to where sockets would fall off easily (fixable). The gun is a bit heavy and unbalanced... Otherwise: Awesome gun with good power! I would recommend this to anyone! I've since retired mine to home use and picked up another Aircat for work. Aircat is 2-3x the price, but still a good value and way cheaper than a gun off the tool truck IMO. Just my 2c

Ditto for me xj(jeep?)
Just recently gave it to our newer tire tech. He had little tools, he's been on it for a while now.

i would NEVER do this with any make. honda probably not an issue, just melt down some wires or break a starter. on a chevy youll bust the ear off on the block doing that. time to change the engine out now.
