My coupon was good for the entire purchase over $100, not just the tool which was nice. I also got 4 sets of socket sets with it for also 20% off. . I think i saved over $200.00 that day. The cashier had to look at the coupon really good because he doesn't see many of those.
I will try to get some 1/2" or 3/4" hose to work with and go from there. I dont plan on getting a 1'' impact, don't need one with that big of a shaft that long , lmfao.

I was in Mansfield on business again this morning, so I picked up a 1/2" drive EQ for $42.14 including 20% off coupon. I've had one for several years, but at that price I couldn't pass up a spare.

Just wanted to let everyone know that stores that have still have the older Earthquake Impact Wrenches are selling them at further discounts even though at least some have not changed the prices on the shelves. I kept waiting for my store to drop the price on the 3/4" Earthquake to $139.99 that has been reported here by various people. It is still marked as $199.99 at our local store. I finally just picked up the box and got the cashier to check the price and it rang up as $139.99, so I had her ring it up and their system did accept a 20% off coupon, so I walked out the door with it for $120 including tax. That's a pretty good deal. I believe that the rest of the Earthquake line is also selling at reduced discounts, even though they have not changed the pricing on the shelves. So, if your store has any left and you've been on the fence you might ask them to do a price check.

BTW, I told my brother who lives in another city about this and he went to his local HF and they also still had the 3/4" EQ marked at $199.99 but it also rang up as $139.99 and they too accepted a 20% coupon. Acceptance of coupons seems to be a system wide phenomenon, if the coupon scans and accepts it you're good, if not maybe you can talk a store manager into it, but it seems that they have less latitude about that than they once did.

For anyone looking to get one of the earthquakes yet, this weekend is a sidewalk sale and all clearance items will be marked down an additional 10% Friday, 20% Sunday, and 30% Sunday so if you can find one Sunday and use a 20% coupon you can get one for around $30 out the door!

Today I ran out and spent money that I really could not afford at this time on a deal I could not resist. HF had the ¾ EQ impact on sale for $111.98. I got there and they had only one left, so other then holding it and contemplating for a bit, I ran to the register and bought it. It is a big heavy well built beast but that completes all my EQ tools except for the 1 inch impact that I really do not need anyway…..

I grabbed a 3/8 and passed on the 1/2 when this deal was first posted. Called today and they still had quite a few of the 1/2. I decided I couldn't pass it up for $30.

Yeah, that 3/4" EQ is a beast. Builds strong muscles with regular use! If it words as advertised (and the 3/8" and 1/2" seem to), then I can't image anything that I've got that it won't break loose. If 1000ft/lbs won't break something loose, then it should stay together :) .

Now, if I had a big Semi to work on or a really big farm tractor, then maybe the 1" might make some sense, but because of the size and length there are only going to be certain fasteners that it will get to anyway.

The biggest reason I got it is because I have some 36mm axle nuts and 3/4" drive seems to be much more common when you get to that size socket.

So I just got back from HF. They had 2 of the 3/4" earthquake marked at 139.99, but before grabbing one I went to the cashier and asked for the price with the item # and she said 99.99. So at that point I just had to have it (even though I have absolutely no need for the thing). Then, as I was checking out, a manager tells the cashier that certain items she needed to multiply the regular price by .3 (70% off) and then put that price in manually. So I got a little worried because I couldnt do the math in my head quickly. It came up @ 83.99. Only downside was that my 20% coupon went to the next item which was a spray gun that was 9.99, so it made that 7.99. But I'm not about to complain. That thing is heavy.

Anybody seen the new earthquake stuff yet? I want to try the impacting/muffled ratchets.

My local store has the new 1" impacts only.

Today is the last day for the big deals. Your deal was a little better then mine if it was picked up on Sunday. My store only had one left as of yesterday so I did not have much choice but to get it on Saturday. It would not take the 20% coupon this time around like the last time with the 3/8 EQ impact a month ago.

Today Only:drool:....

Went to the one in Parkersburg, WV.
I was after the 5 drawer service cart, as my blue point one is getting too small.
But try as we could, it would not fit into the back seat or the trunk. (2002 Olds Alero). It was a nice ride though.

Yeah, they had a bunch of the 1/2" Earth quake Air Ratchets,
A few of the 3/4" guns, Think they were marked 139.99 on the shelf, and the 1/2" ones, think they were marked about $53.00,
But I asked her if I could use the -20% coupon and she said as long as it was not a sidewalk sale item.
Well I had her do a price check, and it came up $3X.00 $32.00 or close to that,( No must have been $36.87) because with the -20% coupon, it was $29.50.
I couldn't pass it up. She offered the extended warranty, but I declined it, as this one is just going to be a back up in case my IR TI 2135 at work, bites the dust.
Got the free screwdrivers, and brought the 2 pac flashlights for $2.50, and the long 5/8" spark plug socket, was $3.99, but it came up at $2.78.
I know what I forgot though, I wanted to get the special grease gun you grease these impacts with.

Everything completely gone including 1" dr. The new EQ are quite nice, but do not come with protective cover.

What kind of price on the new ones?
I did not see the new ones there today.
I didn't ask either though.

They are going for the same as the old one did before any sale. Check the thread I did on the new HF EQ line and that is the prices they are asking. I think it was $279.99 for the 3/4 and just under $100 for the 1/2 model,,,,,

Timing is everything! Last year I bought the 1/2 in EQ based on what some guys on here had posted. I think I paid like 79 bucks for it at the time so it wasn't too spendy. It would have been a much better deal at the closeout pricing. The gun seems to be able to do everything as advertised and I hope to never need to replace it but I'll tell you, I wouldn't want to use it 8 hours a day. Just for S&G, I compared to a similarly rated IR and it weighs about TWICE as much. Not a problem for the ocassional user but you could probably cancel your gym membership if you were hoisting this thing every few minutes.

It is about the same price. It seem to be lighter than the old model. It also seem to feel better than old model.

The IR 231c which is the closest to the older EQ 1/2 is the exact same weight at 7 pounds. I have a 235 as well and there is no difference in weight as well;)

Actually they do, or at least the 1/4" ratchet I got yesterday does. It's got a shiny, fitted black vinyl sleeve over the head of the ratchet. The body has a fitted soft(ish) plastic cover, too.

Edit: oh BTW I really like the ratchet. It's small, light, quiet, makes good power, spins fast. Did I mention it's quiet? Nice for working at night.

Also the COO is Taiwan, I know there was some speculation HFT was moving production to the mainland.

When you get some time in on the new ratchet you should post a review on this thread, http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=111283.
It would be interesting on how it stacks up

Just out of curiosity, I compared my '02 or '03 vintage 1/2" Earthquake to the "new" discontinued one I bought a week or two ago. Not a whole lot of change in the last 8 or 9 years.

Went to another HF today and they have one 1/2 left. Got it for $45 with 20% coupon. Not the great deal some got for $30, but still darn good. They have some 3/4, but for $140. If I could get it for $90 like some members here, I would buy it in a heart beat.

I bought a 1/2" EQ at the sale pricing of around $55 which I was happy with. It was my second one, my first one was great until about 3-4 months in. I went a month or two without it and when I brought this new one home I realized how heavy it was. Returned it as well and have an Aircat 1100k on the way to me as I type. Much lighter, quieter, and assembled in the USA. Hopefully it's as strong as the Earthquake line, man are those guns good. If not I'll just go buy the new version, which is lighter and quieter.

I like the older logo better then the new one. I think the new one will fall off. other then the lack of texture on the front versus the new one they do look the same. How well has the old one held up?.....

The logos on my new (2011 line) 1/4" ratchet are just thick vinyl stickers. I doubt they'll stay on it long. One was coming off in the box.

Considering it's average use is about once a month, it's holding up great!

Both 1/2" drive impacts have much sturdier looking & feeling triggers than the discontinued 3/4" drive model I bought. I'll try to get a pic to demonstrate.

I read a review of the new 1/2" drive model, but considering I got the old one for $42 and I don't use it often - I'm happy.

I think the 3/4" drive has a chintzy looking & feeling trigger:

thank you a ton for having these pics.:bowdown:

My store still has all 3 in stock. I bought the 3/8ths last week but it came up full price, Printed these out and they price matched it. WHile in the store noticed they had the 1/2" in stock too So i grabbed it. Some how it rang up as a polisher @ 34.99 :headscrat so I stacked a 20% on it and got it for 27.99. :bounce:

Ok, the new HF near me has a truckload of the "old" Earthquakes....1/2" = $70 on clearance. $56+ tax with 20%....

Worth it? I have a tired, 20 year old Craftsman 1/2".

print this out and see if you can get it at that price
