Has anyone ever rebuilt the ram on a HF engine hoist? Mine leaks from the valve and over several weeks will drain the tank dry.

HF regularly puts the long shaft jacks (the power unit for the engine hoists) on sale. It is probably more cost effective to replace than repair.

It may be worth looking up the parts list for your jack and see if HF sells replacement seals. Some of these things are not made to be repaired.

Correction, mine leaks from the pump shaft not the valve.

Pull the Pump Piston and see what the problem is... If it has a Seal on the End, I suspect its Worn/Deteriorated/Cracked, If its only a piston there will be some Orings in the Pump Cylinder that can be replaced for Pennies (should be at least 1 Oring even if it has a Piston seal). For Gods Sake dont put any Stop leak **** in your Jack... Fix it Right for Less Money.

As soon as I get this engine in and out I will take the ram apart and let you know what I find.

Make sure you remove the Jack and lay it on its Side (Pump Up) prior to pulling that Pump Piston or whatever Oil is in that bad boy will be on the floor.

I have one that is leaking around the fluid release valve. I can't find parts. Where does one find parts? HF gave me a telephone number to call, but they were no help.

Take some pictures of what you have and post them here, if parts exist Hiball will likely both know and have some.

I would buy a quality replacement ram, I have a Torin Engine hoist and its phenominal. In my opinion and engine hoist is something you dont want to skimp on, I wouldnt want to deal with worrying about the hoist leaking down, or anything. It could be unsafe.
