Soooo, I got several years ago. Still tickin and just adequate. I have other better lights but these are handy enough and no tears if they get lost. So saturday I got a free 4" magnetic tray and wife got one of those free flashlights. Today I was playing with it and I noticed that it was much brighter than the old one I had. Seems they have improved the lights to were they are rather bright. So if you haven't gotten one lately I would suggest getting a few to update from the older ones.

Yea I go through a lot of them, they're good but they are the buffer when I get mad, instead of throwing a wrench, I throw a free flashlight. Lol

I like the blue dual light ones, I have 3-4 of them stuck to the door frame of my shop. But my favorite free item is the tape measures. I have a box full of them on a shelf so if I loose one I just grab another or if I find one cleaning up I just toss it in the box!

Yep, got the small lights in ea vehicle but I will need to upgrade now. Also just put a blue and red flashing light in each vehicle. Now to the forhead lights. Git enough tape measures to last a lifetime. Hmm, maybe just one more.

My favorite HF Freebie is the batteries. I always bring the wife when they are giving those away and get a couple 24 pks then. The flashlights are great. I have them all over the place when needed.

Wait, LED is bad for kids eyes? Does that mean we have to get rid of our LED tv's and lights now?

I have a pile of the HF 9 LED, but if you use a good rechargeable like an Eneloop, its cheaper to buy a good $3 ebay 1x AA light than the cost of 3x AAA Eneloops.

The HF AA and AAA batteries seem to have good reviews, so I may pick up a pack for those items where plain old alkaline is more practical than rechargeables.

Remember, you don't need a hard copy coupon. Everytime I go, I just Google "Harbor Freight 20" on my smartphone. The first hit is the current 20% and freebie coupons. I just show my phone to the cashier and they type in the # on each coupon.

I always get the free 25' tape measure,I have about 8.
screwdriver sets, multi meters, magnetic tray, tape measures and couple of the two mode blue work lights with the magner and hook. They cheaped them out. They used to have a good magnet and now they barely stick.

I like them too and even replaced the magnets with much stronger ones. Had to cut the back of the pocket and cement them in with JB Weld. You would not believe what they did for the new magnets. There is a minute neodimium magnet holding two shallow steel cups together that are the size of the old magnet. The magnet is smaller than a pencil eraser. The old one was an 18mm cup magnet. I put in an 18mm neodimium that holds great.

amateur. :lol_hitti

r&r those batteries that come with those flashlights though. in my experience, a lot of them eventually leak & will corrode the terminals.

I asked the HF cashier "what's the most popular free item" she said The Blue 27 LED light
I suspect mostly b/c it's not a coupon that's offered all that much.

I spread the love around usually, but I do like the magnetic dishes. I keep one in the engine compartment of all my vehicles.

I have collected a few of the tape measures, I like to give them to the occasional person who asks to borrow a tape.

I never have to consider whether or not they will return a good one. Also, it helps them in a pinch.

The magnetic parts trays work will to keep cutting fluid handy when using the Drill Press; splash a little juice into the tray and paint it on with a chip brush.

Great to know. I thought you needed to buy something to get the batteries. I am going to go pick up the Earthquake XT today. I went in to HF two days ago, but they were out of stock. [emoji35]

I've had one for a couple of years. Seems to be a decent general purpose screwdriver but I don't work it hard. On mine, the phillips tips fit well but it's Harbor Freight so I have no idea if they are still exactly the same.

I've got a ton of those lights. Keep one in each vehicle and hanging by the front and back doors. I keep a few in the garage with a magnet taped to them. They work great under the hood or under the car. Welding in tight areas. etc.

I have about a dozen or so of both the black and the blue free lights. I like the black one better for working on the car. We use the blue ones for camping.

I have a dozen or so free HF flashlights, and each consume AAA batteries, fast. The brightness is somewhat inconsistent in each of them. Its not really free if you think about it.

Yea, quality is all over the place. Batteries have been ok for me. The blue lights stick ok for me at this point. As to the free flashlights I gog some like 3-4 years ago and they are still going. The original batteries did just as well as the duracells I now use. So I got no complaints on the free stuff. Yet.

There is one important advice I need to mention--do not, and I repeat, do not---put the free HF flashlight in your mouth when working on something. I see folks doing that all the time, I sometimes wonder what paint was used to coat these flash lights. There should be a PSA on this. :shocking:

I usually go for the tape measure. I do have a couple sets of the screwdrivers. They stay in the kitchen drawer to do whatever with. Caught her using a good screwdriver (vintage s&k) to punch holes in tin cans for some craft project once. She now uses the freebies from HF.
