Anyone have experience with the 8” HF grinder buffer? I’ve read some reviews here of the 6”, but wondering about the 8”. Can you easily change the left grinder side to another buffer wheel? I have two bench grinders with grinding wheels and wire wheels, so don’t need another grinding wheel. I’d like to be able to use two different compounds on it.

This is it. https://www.harborfreight.com/8-inch-bench-grinder-buffer-94327.html

Is there another brand that you would recommend for 2x the cost or less?

I have the black HF.. have used it a few times with a wool pad and some foam over my DA Porter Cable. No complaints.. its a machine that spins.. not very hard to accomplish...

Edit.. nevermind.. thought you were asking about the auto buffer/polisher, not the bench grinder thing. Can't imagine that being a bad took either.. it just has to spin... Not anything real complicated.

I'm sure you could remove the guard and use that side with a buffing wheel, just wouldn't stick out as far as the right...

I use a cheap little Ryobi 6" grinder I bought from a guy for like $20 or less I think... One side he already had a buffing wheel, I removed the guard off the other side and installed another wheel. I only use one compound type per wheel, never mix them. I use a permanent marker and write on the side the color that I use.

I really only polish small parts so it's okay that it's not a lot of power. If you were going to try and do large items then you would probably want something that is 1/2 to 3/4 HP in a quality machine.

Might want to check CL or FB Marketplace and see if you can score a grinder for super cheap. You can get wheels and compound from Amazon quite reasonably.
