HF Grinder Pedestal + Craftsman 8" grinder

So I was all excited to mount the brand new Craftsman 8" variable speed grinder to my brand new HF grinder pedestal (which seams like a sturdy unit despite it's bad reviews) and to my dismay the holes in the base of the Craftsman grinder are spaced too far apart to fit the slots in the HF grinder pedestal in the standard straight orientation :willy_nil

As a work around I can get the holes to line up if I rotate the plate diagonally, but while it will work it looks terrible. Has anyone else had this problem or made an adapter plate? I want to make the stuff I have work so buying another (more expensive) pedestal would likely be out of the question because I'm cheap and as stated earlier I can use it with the mount plate in the alternate orientation.

Thanks, Chet

Do you have the material to lengthen the slot or just drill a hole for the needed bolt location?

If it was me I would bolt rails to the top plate that will allow you to mount two grinder back to back. Then you just flip the setup around to use the other grimder

I have a Dayton grinder and a Northern Tool stand, similar hole alignment issue.

I made an adapter from 3/4" plywood and drilled holes to fit the respective mounts.

If you have metal and tools to work with it, same idea, no need to go so thick.

I like the 3/4 plywood adapter plate idea as I could probably counter sink the bolt holes to make it fit better.

Will try to get some pictures up soon

Same problem with my craftsman block grinder and Wen Grinder stand. I'm going to order a steel plate the same size as the pedestal top and weld them together. Then drill holes where I need them.

Just want to remind that this is not a gripe on the HF grinder pedestal or the Craftsman 8" grinder. Just looking for an effective way to make them fit and I like the wood adapter plate the best so far because It's cheap (free plywood I have) and easy to make + will look nearly invisible once painted black.
