HF Impact gun/wrench and sockets

HF has this Impact wrench does anyone have it?

Yesterday when I was doing some struts my Impact gun(Buffalo) started leaking from the case its way too old and cheap to be using on a regular basis.
Im looking for one I can use everyday but Im not looking to spend too much. Can someone help me decide what brand and model to get.

And the impact sockets I find myslf using the Air wrench more and more I dont want to keep using my chromes. What brand should I get Craftsman or can I get the HF sets?http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=94189

Find an old IR231 in a pawn shop for $35.

HF impacts are ok, many like the Grey Pneumatic for not all that much more.

Buy the IR thunder gun, worth every penny,it's imported, but here we have no choice if you want a thunder gun. I'm looking for USA air tools online now, but the IR is the way to go, I think HF's Earthquake is made by IR factory,same case,etc. but not the performance or fit and finish.

I noticed the IR231 has 3 different models Im looking at the IR231C and the 231HA which is better I know the IR231HA has more torque power but both are the same price. I also checked out the Grey Pneumatic impact sockets and I like em thanks

If you're on a budget, the 231 is the way to go. However, if you do some careful shopping and have more money, I would step up to the IR 2135 titanium series. You won't be disappointed.
Stay away from harbor freight impact sockets. The break easily. A better economical choice would be grey pneumatic or sunex. If you want US Made opt for the Craftsman imapact sockets when they're on sale 50% off which is often. Your results may vary.

The HF Earthquakes is definitely not made by IR.

Wow, I just got word that i got the money for the 2135 is this gun worth it? or should I just get the 231C? Which 2135 is better the max or the quiet series? In other words which one would last longer?

I agree nissan_crawler i've been using the HF impact sockets everyday for several years without a issue!

When I was a crew chief at a local short track I used the IR thunder gun exclusively, running it in nitrogen its kicks **** dont use it here at the shop I have 2 snap on 1/2 " for that. I can recomend the IR totally..

What's the advantage of running in nitogen as opposed to just air?

I thought the only advantage to nitrogen was reduced PSI build up versus air.

seems that most people have only 'heard' of them breaking, everyone I talk to says 'oh man, their a waste, they break all the time' yet they've never used them.

I have a deep metric and standard HF impact socket set that i've had for close to 6 years now using on a VERY regular basis in the garage with no issues.

We didn't bring a comp. to the track just 3 Nitrogen bottles for tires (air has mositure in it and raises the psi which messes up the stagger you just spent all that time setting lol) and we used it for pit stops for the gun for tire changes. But now with no asphalt tracks in NJ Im bored lol

I have "heard" of them breaking. They make a nice crisp snapping sound when they let go. I tried three and broke three in short order from my set. Two were broken with my Craftsman electric impact gun that tops out around 150 lbs. The 17 mm did not even take off one lug bolt from my Jetta while using a breaker bar.

There is a quiet version of the Max tool the model # is 2135QTiMAX
