I think this is one of the best deals at HF, they were free this weekend, but you can get them on sale also.

we were looking at the Harbor Freight ad today in a local paper while we were waiting for the rest of our party to arrive for lunch.
we saw those things - "free with any purchase" - but I couldn't think of anything I'd want to buy from Harbor Freight.

Harbor Freight does sell many things that even a tool snob could use.

Their Pelican-style cases are pretty-nice, for one.

I rescued two kittens in the wall of my in-law's house using their fiber-optic color hand-held LED tv screen. I could hear the 'meow' & drilled a hole to find them in a void behind a faux fireplace. The LED tv showed a kitty staring back at me when I fed the fiber optic probe in. A sawzall hole through the kitchen closet wall allowed their removal.

They sell 'nite eiyz' products, https://www.niteize.com/ which are varied and ingenious. I use their LED light w/a clip on it in flashing mode to keep track of the dog when I let him out at night to do his toilet business. Look at their SS carabiners and rope tighteners. I have multiples of each.

We were doing a whole-house remodel, the GC had $1800 budgeted for a crew to demo two baths to the CBS/stud walls & floor joists. I told him, "I'll do the job." I bought a HFT demo hammer/drill & SDS-Max bits, and saved $1600+. Since then it's fastened a 10' x 20' building to the new concrete slab for the build.

I have an orange small Chicago Electric side grinder that has lasted many years, and I do have multiple Milwaukee side grinders, that HFT has worked right alongside them w/no issues. Out of guilt, I checked the brushes the other day, they aren't even worn 1/2-way.

I have a set of forstner bit wood hole drills, they cut a precise hole, and are sized to my needs. I don't use them in a production role, but they have worked well for my home needs.

Every time I stop at one of the local HFT's, I always see multiple contractors' trucks in the parking lot, and employees w/named shirts inside, filling their carts w/supplies and tools.

But if you don't want to set-foot in there, that's more 'free, with purchase' stuff for the people who will visit, and will buy.

I love those magnetic strips!

I have them all over the place and they've strong.

My main reason for picking one up was to use as a magnetic bar on my Yukon XL when stuff sticks out the back end. They hold on my red fabric flag and even at 60+ miles per hour they didn't move.

I have a HF magnetic bar above my workbench just above eye level. I use it to stick screwdrivers, wrenches, bits and even parts when I'm working on something. Very handy.

I'm on the look out for another one to use at my drill and driver storage station for extensions and bits as well.

Yes, I use a similar setup. Very handy for holding a 1/4'', 3/8'' & 1/2" square-to hex-shank adapter set (Warrior-HFT brand), a Klein multi-function wire stripper/cutter, Klein linesman's pliers, HFT 1/4" hex drive adapter, and a big old Stanley 5/16" 3000-7 red & clear-plastic handle blade screwdriver, bought new, and is at-least 46 years old. Oh, and one of those HFT give-aways, the blue-plastic LED 'brick' flashlight, the one that resembles a small bar of soap. Keep some fresh batteries in it, and that thing is bright! I know the batteries are low when I can look right at it, w/o having to squint. Time for using some of those free HFT AA or AAA batteries!

I also use it to hold any broken drill bits, to remind me what I need, my next trip to wherever I buy the replacements. Lately I've been buying the Warrior-HFT multiple-bit packs for the small bits, that way, I always have replacements handy.

:dunno: on the mounting hole spacing...
I had to add a firing strip under mine to catch the 16" oc studs :(

I had so many of them (around 12) that I started taking them apart so I would have lots of individual magnets to use for other things. There is like 5 or 6 magnets inside the bar.

I’m no HF enthusiast, but I picked up the small Apache case this weekend to use as a dry box on the boat, and gotta say for $11 (with coupon) I’m impressed. It’s not quite a Pelican, but a Pelican isn’t $11 either.

Got the free magnetic strip but haven’t mounted it yet.

These are worth buying, just fine in my book.

I only have one, but I do use it often. I have it mounted above my workbench, integrated between some pegboard and a window. It is really useful for quick reach tools.

I tend to leave at least one set of needle nose, dikes, and a measuring tape on it. And then whatever else I'm currently using (screwdriver, etc.) Chances are, no matter what I'm doing, I'll reach for one of those, and it's nice to have a secure, quick reach place off the worktop.

I agree, my BMW has push pins on everything and these are much easier to use than a screwdriver for prying the pin. More often than not I can reuse them as well.

I'm at the same point and the magnets are great. I like to use cups to hold my workshop pens, chip brushes and oil, etc and these magnets work great in the bottom of the cup to keep it from moving.

I riveted two of those to the lid of my black HF tool cart to hold my ratcheting wrenches a couple of years ago. I ended up having to use two because I do shut the lid when not using it and with only one the wrenches would shift some. I have the box tightly backed so the wrenches shifting meant they would contact sockets resulting in the lid not being able to fully close.

Those make excellent plasma cut guides... I like my tools in the box. I have several of these I use as guides.

I use these in my box for stuff that gets jostled around when opening and closing the drawer, especially my mini wrenches. That's a great idea for them also though.

Any tips on taking these apart with making a mess of the magnets?

I cut the tape so I could fit the tip of a small pry bar between a magnet at the end of the strip and the adjacent magnet, figuring I could use the pry bar to separate the magnet at the end of strip (and repeat for remaining magnets). All I managed to do was scrape and crumble the magnet. I'm guessing they glued the magnets to the bracket.

They have probably changed these over time, I don't remember mine being glued in. I didn't have any trouble with breaking the magnets.

I put on on the edge of my bench riser where I build my scale models. Works great to keep my small tools up and off the bench. Hemostats, exacto knives, jewelers files, etc.

Hey, look! It's the guy with more money than sense and more tool snob ego than those two things combined. You know, the one who feels a need to open a Harbor Freight thread just to tell you that he's too good to buy anything from Harbor Freight. Hooray!

I had some molding holes on a car I was working on that I had to weld closed,I used the punch outs from my Whitney punch and held them in place to tack weld in place with the magnets I took out of my free harbor freight magnet tool holder.
