You realize there are at least half a dozen HF metal saws correct? There are also at least 2 different types of blades (and you are right the cheapest ones don't work very well).

I've got one of the higher priced ones and in the 3+ years I've had it, I've had great luck using it 3-4 times a week. I've been through 15+ blades with it and it's still a metal eating mofo...

The 4x6 horizontal saws have a HUGE following. For the price, they're excellent.
Everyone says the blades they come with are ****--you're not really saying to avoid a band saw just because of the blade it's shipped with, are you? Because for about $10, you can get a good bi-metal blade.

Like EVERY power tool, it's going to require some set-up and dialing in... you aren't going to get great accuracy or performance just by opening up the box.

The flimsy sheetmetal stands are also junk.

The saw itself? Pretty damn good. Especially for the money.

Do some web searches for "Harbor Freight 4x6" and you'll see hundreds of posts and sites dedicated to this saw.

I traded mine for a Shop Fox, only because I liked the miter gauge and clamp on the Shop Fox better... but when it comes right down to it, there really wasn't a NEED to get rid of that saw.

Some of the HF saws are decent. I know a lot of guys first starting out that use them. Some of them are junk though. Just gotta research the one you're buying.

Sorry for no pics. It was late and kinda a drunken rant. But it was the high speed air saw as mentioned above. The saw seems to be ok but the teeth on the blades just went to ****. The only thing I don't like about the saw is the blade set screws.

I have a 10.99 coupon for that one. If its just the blade, why not just get better blades?

Do they use industry standard blades, like a regular reciprocating blade?

I have one that works great on sheet metal. Just get a good quality hack saw blade and break it in pieces long enough to work in the saw. Works great. You can even grind down the back side of the blade to make it narrow. Really helps when cutting curves.

i bought the blades when i bought the saw. the pack says works with most air saws so i guess its close to a standard. as far as the hack saw blades i will have to try that out. i don't like the HF blades so far

yup those are junk. Ive got one also, I just needed to cut one hole. It worked but vibrated itself into pieces. With a little patience and lots of red lock tite, I managed to get it working okay. I rarely use it but when I do its nice to have around for those odd jobs
