I bought the base HF multi function cut off tool when they first came out with it. I have been using it nearly every day for years. The first time it quit was because of a bad crimp on one of the wires. Easy fix. The 2nd time it quit, ( a few years later) the braid to one of the brushes fell off. I knew that the tool came with spare brushes, but I couldn't find mine so I jury rigged it to supply current to the brush through the spring that tensions it. A couple of days ago I went to turn it on and nothing! I kinda got a smile on my face because I had a 25% coupon for HF and I have been wanting the variable speed version of that tool ever since they introduced it. I bought the new unit but I'm still going to take the old one apart and see If I can get one more rodeo out of it.

We all know about the general reputation of HF stuff but this tool has been a real workhorse and well worth the 20 to 30 bucks I paid for it years ago!

The cheap reciprocating saw they have is awesome! I have yet to use my expensive ones.

Santa brought me the current HF VS Multi tool, I've used it a few times already, no problems. FYI, Dremel brand blades are a perfect fit.
Good to hear yours has held up so well.
