Check out the International boxes.

I have the HF box, and I've been happy with it. But, if I had it to do over again, I would seriously consider these. A little more money, but they should be made in Canada, not China.

Note - I haven't seen one in person. I know some members here have bought them, so you can probably find some info on them here.

I have an International setup. They are made in Canada which is great. They are on par with the HF boxes. They are no SO box, but better then the non-grip latch CM's. The only concern with International is the thin packaging they get delivered in. I had big problems with them from Amazon and another member had some issues from Sears. My bottom box is from Sears...I didn't have any problems.

They are the same box as the new Craftsman boxes. I wouldn't pay for the more money for the Sears name on it.

i have both boxes and the hf is the better built box hands down. the hf has ball bearing slides vs friction for the craftsman, and the hf has much heavier gauge metal. the top drawer is almost completely full, and the bottom is full of air tools, and both have a lot of weight in them. they both open/close with ease.

Not to go too far off from the OP, but I currently have a full 26" Craftsman combo (top, middle, and bottom) plus another full 26" top Craftman box (both friction slides). I am looking at the matching ball bearing middle and bottom (middle and top) because they are about 1/2 price right now. Total of about $220 before tax.

The other choice is the 42" HF bottom box that the OP is asking about ($359 after coupon, before tax).

I went and checked out the HF at lunch today and it seems nice. Need to go to sears and check out their boxes.

Any thoughts? Thanks

personally,
the last place i'd be looking for a new toolbox would be at sears.

most new toolboxes that i've looked at dont have a drawer configuration that i like.
i've been using SO boxes since the mid 80's at work, in the garage, and basement.

if i was in the market for a new box, HF would be where i'd spend my cash. especially since the crinkle pink paint seems to be gone from the 41" roller.

i'm waiting for the new lockers to hit the store, gonna see if i can sneak one by the wife.

If I was look for a box in that price range, the only new box I would buy is a 36" Masterforce from menards. I like the drawer layout and feel a guy could get more tools in it then a 40". I had a SO 40" at home for a while and the drawers where too small for how I wanted to arrange stuff. I got rid of it and have a SO classic 60 now and it is much nicer. Watch craiglist, there can be steals on there if you watch long enough.

I agree about the 36" MF box being better than their 41". It's still not the perfect layout IMO, but I like it better. I only wish they would offer a version in black. Not a fan of the green...

I have a harbor freight 26 inch box right now and when I outgrow it I plan on moving up to the 42 incher. The HF boxes rock!
