Some of the cheap ones really aren't great, but I've had the yellow and black handled extra long 3 pc set from HF for a few years and it does fine when I need the really long ones. I'm sure those are more than fine for home use. Get their plastic trim tools too, you'll be glad you did.

If you want to be really well set up, grab a set of Steck trim pliers also, I think they're about $20 from most sellers.

If you ever need to upgrade, there are lots of threads about the best ones, you'll find my name in those threads.

I have the long blue and black handle HF ones for years. I use them for everything but plastic pins and they have held up surprisingly well. For plastic pins and clips I use the shorter Snap On ones as I feel they get a better grip on the pins and are practically indestructible. As far as any tool not breaking the pins, some of these pins seem as if they are one time use and have to be broken to be removed especially if they have some age on them.

Some of those barb pins can be a ***** and hard to remove them without wrecking them too. The floorboard rubbers on John Deere are like that.

I had used long handle forked pry tool in the past but I recently got the other plier type remover tool they sell to try the next around. Just been in my tool box, haven't had the opportunity to use it yet though :eyecrazy:

Didn't even see those before, thanks for the link. Looks like that will fit my needs, as well

Agreed; I will definitely buy a pin assortment, as well. Because, as we all know, they always break when we don't have spares.
