gift a $140 Snap-On FHLF80 twin for less than $20?

That thread is closed, but it got me thinking about those HF ratchets that recently arrived in my local store.

Short ones didn't fill any special need that was not already filled, but that 3/8" drive long one seemed a very useful setup.

So today, after getting a new muffler installed, I stopped by the local HF with my 25% coupon and after wandering the store for an hour, I went and fondled it and couldn't put it down until I passed by the register and paid the girl for it.

Another customer commented on the nice chrome, but they didn't like the soft grip handle. I'm undecided on it.

What is nice, is the long handle, swivel head and general feel. It's a 72 tooth. It does make a loud click sound.

Now, I can't compare it to the vaunted SO of similar layout. I've never even seen one of those.

But for the price, this is a beauty. And right next to it on the rack, was the long 1/2"

I was so tempted, but out of coupons, and money, and nearby stores and time.

Anyone else buy and use any of these new ratchets?

Bill

I bought this one, and the 1/2" long one, and the 1/4" version. I haven't done anything more than lube the 1/4" and 3/8", but the 1/2" busted loose some lug nuts that took my 330ish pound bouncing on the rat to get moving. It ain't Snap On or Armstrong, but it's a pretty good unit, and a screaming deal for the sub-$25 I paid for it.

I bought the all of them. I hated the grip at first but now I love it. I didn't realize how often a flex head would of saved me a few headaches until I got them. I just wrench on the weekend so the quality is just fine for me.
