The 112 might not be so much of a joke, probably someone somewhere is reboxing this thing with another brand stamp and blowing smoke over the warranty.

And that is what REALLY bothers me about Chinese manufactured tools ! HF make no pretense of where is comes from and charges accordingly.

Last year, I needed new razor knife. $5-$10 at various places. $1.99 at HF. And you can bet they all came out of China.

I'm real tempted to grab one of those just to check it out with the coupon. I'll be up to 4 1/2" breaker bars though... Maybe I'll relegate one to the trunk.

Cheap breaker bar that is good quality is hard to go against. It's nice when they don't care about the fact you slipped a pipe over it when you take it for warranty.

I have one in each vehicle, along with an impact socket to fit the lug nuts. I can loosen them with two fingers, so I figure my wife can do it with ease, as our lug nuts are always properly torqued, and she's tougher than she looks. I do NOT want her relying on the kindness of strangers if she has a flat. No way. :(

no detents on the floppy head. i looked at one the other day and passed on it. none of there pro ratchets ith flex heads have detents either. strange

Yeah, I have the ratchet and it flops constantly. I slid a wave washer in and it slowed it down a bit, but not too much!

Idk if you guys can see these pics. But thats the regular HF breaker bar and a rather large pipe I had on it. Im 195lbs standing on the end of it. Breaker bar was a BEAST. Finally got the nut loose.

I've got the old style, had it for probably 6 or 7 years now. I've put it through its paces over the years and between it and the torch I haven't come across a bolt yet that I couldn't either break loose or break off. I have made it flex pretty hard though, but it always springs right back. I'd say it's a good buy.

I have the old style one. Used almost daily at work on 3/4'' flange bolts . Even with a cheater it has not bent or broke. This was from when they were $6.99. I did buy three of them after testing one for work. Left one in car with socket for lug nuts.

I know this is reviving a old dead thread but I have to comment. I go tone of these recently about 2 weeks ago because I wanted a back up and a longer breaker bar just to have. I paid $15 and damn thing thing is good. I did red locktite the adjustment screw as it walked out a little. I am impressed to say the least I have heard there good breaker bars but I didn't believe it until I got to really test on it. It doesn't bent that much and for what you pay for it is pretty damn good. I have a MAC tools one also made in Taiwan and these bars have about the same thickness of bar stock and bend about the same. I think sometime I might grab another or 2 to keep one in each car and have a spare at home in the garage. I think these coupled with the Pittsburgh pro 1/2 impact sockets these are some of the best budget friendly pro grade tools HF offers. That's just my opinion.

I agree. Haven’t tried the loctite on mine but I mean I use mine professionally and they have been fine no reason to spend big bucks on a breaker bar.

My mac one I got from work and paid under $10 for it. Its a shorter one and no comfort grip I never had a new one so I figured why not. I usually use my flex head 1/2 drive ratchet as a breaker bar but I have found lately I want to use the right tool since I enjoy doing the car stuff at my own pace. I loctited mine just because I wanted to make sure it wouldn't come out again. I thought about tac welding it lol.
But I am far from a Professional but I also rmember a video seeing how these brakers beat out Snappy, MAC and Cornwell or Matco can't recall what one. But I was like if they ever go under $20 when I'm in the store ill try one. Well I love it and honestly think I will be getting more down the road. I like being prepared and having one in each car dedicated with the right socket for the lugs is a big time saver. Hell my truck right now has a 10 inch old snappy breaker that I welded a pipe onto to make it longer just for emergency use. I think sometime if I get a new one ill replace it and keep it in the truck and just toss my "homemade" longer one.
Hell they make good gifts as well. Since the holidays are coming up!

Blue loctite not red?
Can the pivot bolt be snugged up tight without jamming the flex action?

They come with blue loctite on them. Mine had a very little bit on it but I only had red on hand and was like well this way it shouldn't come loose. And yes you can snug it up real tight and it will still flex and move the anvil smooth and easily. No more loosey goosey. I tightened mine up as tight as it could possibly go before adding the locktite to finish the tire rotation I was doing and it didn't loosen up again. But I do suggest when getting one adding your own loctite since odds are the stuff it comes with isn't the best quality. This is just my 2 cents. :rocker:

Sorry if this has been covered but the thread is too long to read all the posts. I purchased it because it has great reviews and is very strong. But in use for where I need to use it, it is just too long and I am not able to use it. The length sounds like a benefit but when working in a wheel well it is just too long to use on most bolts.

I agree to this 100% where the long 25 shines is for lugnuts and axle nuts or stuff where you have room to use it. in non confined areas.

Why is this one better than the $10 one? Suppose the buyer doesn't desire comfort handle?

Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using The Garage Journal mobile app

What $10 one you talking about? This one would be the 25 inch I believe. This is the one I was talking about extra leverage is great. I do however think the $10 one with the different anvil head design would be stronger but no evidence to support that. And the $10 one non comfort grip would be easier for slipping a cheater pipe on for alot more leverage.
I only have use of the 25 inch comfort grip one. I also think for oily hands/ cold weather comfort grip is better then all metal. This is my thought process.

A ratchet, a breaker bar, great for crankshaft bolts. Swollen lug nuts. Axle nuts.
Look at it, you want it. Buy a good reducer, because the ratchet will not break, and ideally, if you use a reducer, it won't either. If it's not coming loose with this, it will shear. Solid steel top to bottom, no pin attachment, 1” diameter. You know you want it, and then when you have it, it might turn out to be your favorite thing to hold.

I have an S*K 1/2" drive model that I purchased from Epstein's,it is only 10 inches long and is strong enough to snap 3/8" grade 8 bolts if you continue to tighten them
convenient for small spaces and stronger than 3/8" drive (at least I think so)

Wright 6425 strength edit I forgot.
Day I was off, guy next to me borrowed the 6425, with a taiwan williams reducer to 1/2", used it on a lug nut, the socket is what broke. I don't know the socket details off hand.

Agreed. Yes I seen the same video you watched. Honestly I don’t work with a single person that has an expensive breaker bar but I’d totally buy one if I got a big discount just because that would be cheaper than the HF.

I had 3 journeyman on a 1/2 HF bar for an hour and a half the other day in a stuck field job, 2 at once pulling on it. Ain't no way a retired 75 yr old part timer can hurt it. I did have one broke by a 140# guy though. Knob put a 6 ft pipe on and jumped on it. Didn't occur to me it is warranted, might still have it.

I have posted this before, but I bent a half inch drive X 24" HF breaker bar on a pinion nut. No cheater pipe and I weigh ~160 lbs. No complaints and I returned it for an exchange and eventually picked up a 3/4" SK for future adventures.
