I know, I know...I feel like a chump for even asking, but...

While at Harbor Freight today picking up a fabulous auto-darkening helmet (thank God the blue flame stickers came off within 10 seconds of getting home), I stumbled upon these colorful ratcheting wrenches:

SAE: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=94316
Metric: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=94315

Now, normally, I wouldn't have even looked, but for some reason, I picked them up to show them to my brother and to make fun of the color...and noticed that they didn't **** nearly as bad as I had expected. The package said they had 72 teeth (5 degrees per click) and they weren't as loose as I expected. The color was uniform (for what it was) and overall...they didn't look THAT bad...

Anyone spent the $30/set to try these out? I ultimately want the real deal Gear Ratchet flex-head set, but for now...these are kinda tempting.

I feel like these should be marketed to a different crowd...is there a "Garage Make Over" show? But at least I might be able to get my girlfriend to help me in the garage a little. "Hey, babe, hand me that 10 mil ratcheting wrench. Uhhh...I mean, the purple one. Yeah, that's it. Thanks."

Thoughts?

Pass. The wrenches may be fine, but if you buy colored wrenches, you will have to turn in your man card.

I'm tending to agree. BTW, aren't you the one that got a HH140? Searching through old posts and reading your reviews...I had to go get one yesterday. Thanks! :)

Yup, that would be me. It's a nice little welder, for a 110 machine. I think you'll like it!

Hope so! Haven't even unpacked it yet...waiting til I clear a lil' room in the garage first. I'm excited to say the least. My main project car has been waiting on a welder for awhile.

When they first came out, they didn't look like they came out of the closet. Now they only have the stubbies and the flex ones in real chrome. From the pictures, the stubbies might come down the same foreign line as the KD brand, however, I would rather buy the KD's up front. They have a more complete size range (if you need individual, Lowe's sells them that way), and they DON'T require you to take in the receipt to swap them.
