I have recently purchased a HF 42" roller cabinet and was wondering if there matching top chest is worth the investment.
Does it ever go on sale?
I"m happy with the roller, just need more storage space.
What's the popular topping for this cabinet?

A lot of the guys gang up bottom cabinets and make a bench. I did this myself. The top cabinet makes it into a big roller.

Somewhere here in the forum is a good picture of a guys girlfriend posed on top of the stack. It's a pretty nice combo.

I'd say it is on par with the bottom as far as build quality. I've used one quite a bit but don't personally own one (long story). It is nice, but...It all boils down to what you NEED. Do you need more tool storage space like drawers and thus a top box? Or do you need a working surface like a bench?

One thing you could do is find an older truck brand 27 or 32" wide x 15 or 18" deep box and set that on top of the HF44" bottom. A 32" top would give you the same storage space as the HF44" top, yet would leave you with ~12"x18" of working space like a side shelf. Or a 27" wide top box and get ~17*18" of working space, but lose some storage space.

I had one and like it a lot. I got mine on sale a few years back for $249.00. I can't say I have seen them on sale lately. I would recommend for sure if you don't have the floor space.

No I do not have the floor space for multiples...wish I did.
I need the top for small tool storage.
As long as the quality is OK, my biggest concern.

This makes the process easier.

I bought the top and bottom a few months back. Both were on sale w/coupon. I don't recall the actual price but I do know that coupon was one of the few I've seen for the top cabinet.

As far as quality, it is identical to the bottom chest. Well worth the money at full price.

I swapped the two deep drawers from my bottom cabinet for four shallow drawers with another member. I then moved these to my top chest so all of its drawers are shallow.

Ive got the top and bottom, got the bottom on sale, and waited and waited for the top to go on sale or for a coupon for it, never happened for me, finally just bought the top at the regular price. I am glad i got the top it makes a good set and works out for smaller tools.

have seen them come up on CL a couple of times, both were listed at under $100, and in excellent condition. Took a while for them to sell as well. You might ask your HF if they have a scratch/dent model available cheap.
