I'm getting ready to replace the rear axle seals in a 2003 Ford Explorer and I'll need to get a seal installer. The original TSB says to purchase a Lisle seal installer going for around $80.00. Since then, the seal has been redesigned and it looks like the Lisle tool is now discontinued on most websites leading me to believe the new seal doesn't require this tool anymore. HF has this decent looking set.

Anyone used it, especially for an Explorer rear axle seal, with good results?

I have one and it works great. The edge on one my disc has deformed some but a grinder or sandpaper would return it back to normal. It is aluminum so it wont' take a lot of abuse. To be the softer aluminum is a plus. I'd rather mess up the driver than a more expansive axle housing or whatever you are using it with.

I've beat on that set professionally for a couple years now with no issues. I also use them a lot on the 2 posts to lift cars.
