HF Store Opening Waldorf, MD Question

The local Southern Maryland online news reports:

The Harbor Freight Tools in Waldorf is now open.

The nearly 17,000 square foot store opened today, Tuesday, April 30, 2019. Their Grand Opening will be on Wednesday, May 15, 2019.

This is not too far from me. I can't find any "Grand Opening" flyers or such.

When HF opens a store do they run special sales?

Is it maybe worth a trip over there next week?

Thanks for any advice, Bruce

My shop is less than 1 mile away from the store but I haven't been in there yet so I don't have any real answers for you at this point but If I do get over there before the weekend I will let you know what I find out.

Thanks for the reply. I am about 35 minutes away.

As big as they are into the coupons, you would think a store opening would be a reason to hoot and holler about a sale.

I don't go there much since no stores are close by, so I have no experience with them.

I also appreciate the humor of the other replies, which tend to support my idea that a store opening should be a reason for a sale.

Thanks to all, Bruce

I'm hearing there's a big red tag sale coming up soon.

Truth is, just go on hfqpdb.com and get whatever coupons you need. If it's on sale, that website has it. Don't expect anything special from a store opening.

hfqpdb is the best answer. I can't say I've ever seen anything on sale at one HF that wasn't the same price at another (there are three long my commute, plus a fourth not too far out of my way).

Go to the store, inventory the shop first for consumables or something you need/want.

I still have a HFT rebate/class-action gift card I haven't used, $260. I keep looking at the welders. I have an 'open-box' HFT flux-core wire-feed welder I bought off the returns table, it's paid for itself many times over. I think it was $35. It was all-there.

It's like 'Habitat for Humanity,' you have-to keep going to see what comes-into inventory.

The Vulcan Omnipro 220 and the Titanium 200 amp multi-process welder are the two which look to be of interest. I'd just be using it for around the house stuff, but I'd like to be able to use it for aluminum, as I like to work on old motorcycles. Their current sale has the latter for $650, which would put it to me for ~$400. I suppose the advantage of the Titanium 200 amp is that it's 120/240 volts, though I do have a 240 volt, 50 amp circuit in the garage, and several 240 volt, 20 amp or 30 amp too. The Omnipro 220 has a 25 % duty cycle at 200 amps for GMAW/FCAW.

If you're capable of buying things at HFT without wearing headgear like the Unknown Comic, I would look online for what you need, and put the coupons on your phone before you go, and don't forget your free gift coupon!

If you see anything you might want, grab it then! Our stores around here seem to be out of everything I'm looking for.

Went in two weeks ago for the new 3 ton low profile, long reach jack. No stock anywhere. Clerk says wait a week and call around. Week later, still nothing on the trucks. Still lots of inventory on the old low profiles like the one that died on me.
I gave up and ordered one from HF, but almost a week later and it still has not shipped.
Personally, I think HF is holding off stocking the stores until they sell out of the old Pittsburgh line of jacks.

Went by Monday for one of the narrow tool stands for a planer. Nope, out of stock. Screw it, bought a much nicer Dewalt Planer stand that was old stock on eBay at a discount.

I'm really losing faith in HF with their hit and miss stock. When I bought my new 44" bottom and side cabinet, it took 3 weeks for one to show up back in January.

I went to my local HF store in Catonsville MD the day it opened. No special store opening sales the day it opened. I have been there a bunch of times since then, stays clean, stays stocked and a lot of friendly employees. And no weird plastic smell!
