LMBO!

Dude taking the video gets just a few minutes in before the owner says he's selling out. ONLY $69,900 gets you a truck full of HF and a beat up old truck.

Have fun.

Running a tool truck, struggling to make sales, THEN chasing you dollars, week after week. Not for me, not in a million years.

"It's a good all American business" the guy with the camera says, except 90% of the tools are Chinese made. :)

The camera guy sure drops the F bomb a lot -- way to keep it classy fella.

Laugh all you want, but we have an independent tool truck that comes by once a month, and He makes a killing at our shop. I don't think he has much if any Harbor freight stuff, but does carry Craftsman, SK, Gear wrench, OTC, and at least 10 others. His prices are good, he'll swap out any broken stuff, and has some tools I've never even heard of let alone seen on a snap truck or Matco for that matter. I love living in the sticks as back in the big city, everyone at my last shop was such tool snobs. Up here everyone knows the value of a dollar means the name means nothing as long as the quality is there.

I had a good independent guy too. But his truck was not all cheap HF ****. Lots of SK Gearwrench Armstrong OTC. All good prices. And worked just like other tool trucks. Except he didn't have a franchise fee to pay. I think he sold Homak SPG and Waterloo boxes. If you are an independent and sell quality tools you could probably make a good living.

It's my dream to become an Indy tool dealer, with everything I've learned here and in the shops I know what works and what you need. I need credit.

With all the astro pneumatic, gearwrench, sk, otc, lang, lisle etc... I think it could be done right.

I cracked up at that part too! For the rest of the video the "camera man" sounded soooo let down. Almost like someone kicked his favorite puppy.

I'd be more excited to see the garbage truck roll up

Same here man.

The best thing I saw in that truck was the box of Diamond Grip latex gloves. I use them every day.

True...but I saw a little bit of Lisle on the dash.

Hey I'm all for the indy's making it; they just have to have quality products. This guy is peddling goods of which the majority have no place in an actual place of business.

You caught me man! I was trying to figure out how to steal Snap On's market share! Guess I failed huh?

Actually, I was catching up on Humble Mechanic, South Main Auto, and the like. From there I went to tool box tours > Cohesive Garage > tool truck tours > independant tool truck tours. Basically I had too much time on my hands last night after work. This guy takes the cake though. Selling HF, the phone number on his truck doesn't even go with the business anymore, and he wants to sell out for close to 70k!

Trust me, I won't put ya'll through this type of video again!:lol_hitti

This guy is a genius! He probably sells the stuff at 2x-3x what he paid for it, and when he has a warranty claim he just goes back to HF and swaps the tool out. It's the economy tool truck and business model!

Around here, we had "Discount Tools" 15 years ago. It was a guy with a Ford Econoline van packed full of HF tools. He used to get mad at me when I'd say something like "I need cheap-o wrenches I can cut up / weld to make special tools out of." His response was "They are ECONOMY, not cheap!" :lol_hitti

I think a independent truck can do very well and it's surprising you don't see more of them. Especially the program Gearwrench offers independent drivers. You could sell all the specialty automotive stuff cheaper because you are selling the OEM not the expensive re-brand. There are plenty of quality non tool truck tools companies out there that are on our with the best.
