Im going to pick up a second 44" cabinet tomorrow. im thinking about getting one of these stands as well:

are these safe to use for a ford 302?

is there any other good deals that i should look for while im there?

I had my olds 455 on one of those 1ton'ers. Worked fine. A little shady moving it around under weight as the rear wheels are held on by E clips.. Probably not recommended to move under weight anyway. I'd get the 2 ton one instead as they are bolted on front and rear.

I'd recommend spending a bit more and getting a "U" or "C" shaped design. I have an IH/Navi/Ford 7.3 diesel on my Sunex geared head stand right now. Much more stable to move around the shop. 10X less scary if you have to rotate the engine on the stand at all. A design like this without a geared head can be had lots of places for well under $100 (such as in the link). Geared head ones will cost around $300, maybe a bit less depending on the reduction box size.

I'm with Neal on this one. It'd be a bummer to roll over a crack in the floor and pile drive your freshly built 302 into the concrete.
