Where can I get my hands on the 20% off coupon? I'm looking to pick up one of these boxes as well.

Thanks for the info! I see that they have the 44" for $449. Should I jump on that, or do you expect/know of a better one?
I bought my 44 for $399 during their sale about 2 months ago - depends how long you want to wait for that price - Father's day is coming up so it may go on sale then, but it may not be that low again until Black Friday...

sgtgeo... thank you very much for posting your detailed observations regarding the quality and component differences you observed between the 26" stand alone and the 26" portion of the 44" tool carts. Prior to your post, I too, would have assumed that the build quality would have been identical between the wide drawers, and that the additional cost of the 44" was solely related to the built in set of parallel narrow drawers integrated with the 44" box.

It would not have occurred to me that the 26" stand alone was cheaper not only due to the lack of the integrated side drawers, and the extra cost and bulk of material that would go into making the larger box... but that the identically sized drawers and slides were also cheaper... where the double depth drawers had only a single pair of slides on the 26", vs a quad set of slides for the same size drawer on the 44".

I completely got that you were trying to compare build quality, not compare cost, and it bothered me that some readers chose to disparage your observations on that basis with very simplistic conclusions.

Thanks again for opening our eyes to look for potential differences like this, so that intrinsic value of choosing one box over another can be appreciated in terms of weight capacity per drawer, and other such factors.

The US General is superior to the Kobalt boxes. There are better boxes around, but not the Kobalt or most Craftsman boxes.

I purchased a blue 26" in June. Initially I though it might be too small but it turned out to have more than enough room for me but I am just a regular joe and don't wrench. It moves around the shop quite easily and can be pushed out of way in a corner when doing other things.
