HF US General series 3 question....

Tools are spilling over onto shelves. Need another toolbox for the lesser used tools. Thinking about the Series 3 US General. Seems hard to beat (or even match it) it for the price. Can you put a side cab on the 27" roll cab?..... HF says no.... but that may be the liability lawyers. I can't tell if HF made it not possible to hang the locker.

That question may be immaterial, as the 42" cab may make more sense. Certainly, more financial sense, but I'm still trying to figure out where I have space for another stack-o-boxes.

Thanks!

Ryan, I think as long as there is a lip around the sides and back of the box that hanging a side box should not be a problem ,
That is of course that the width of the side box lip will hang on it.

Im sure they say no side box is a safety thing. A loaded side cab on an empty rollaway could be really tippy. The holes to fasten the side box or locker might not be drilled on the 26".

I watched a YT recently... seem to be others as well.
Can't speak to the advisability...

I'd say buy the bigger 42" box to hang the side locker on. The 42" top box is $100 off with the ITC membership.

However, That YT video with 5 drawer cart and end cabinet look pretty awesome.

I've seen it done, but I recall one guy saying it wasn't as balanced as he'd like. I'd be tempted to swap to a 42" - probably similar space increase and the option for a top box later.

Oh, I don't doubt it one bit being out of balance and probably actually dangerous when moving too fast or crappy surface. Little space and starting out with a 5 drawer and adding the end cabinet for a young person wouldn't be bad for a home gamer.

That's my thought. I gotta go get a closer look at the lip. If they were really protecting themselves from litigation, they might make the lip incompatible.

I totally get the off-balance thing. We've been looking for better furniture for the house. No one will make dresser drawers that open all the way (like a tool box!) anymore. I guess too many people toppled their furniture trying to get that last pair of socks before laundry day. ;)
