I started this discussion in the HF Pass/Fail thread, but thought it would get more views and discussion, and be able to help more people if I made it a separate thread. The remote is HF item#69229:

I picked one up a few days ago for $17.59 including the sale price and a 20% coupon.

From my last post on the Pass/Fail thread:

"my old Superwinch S2500 does seem to reverse polarity to the two studs for in/out. Attached are a couple pictures also showing the guts of the wireless remote I picked up a couple days ago. I guess I cut the plug off, put +12v to the yellow/green wire, -12v to the black wire, and check the brown & blue wires for 12v with the remote "in" & "out" buttons pushed (red wire only runs from fuse holder to circuit board). I don't see a solenoid box on this winch, so I'm ASSuming I need to run all 4 wires to remote solenoids. I can probably figure it out (I wired all the solenoids for my race car from off the top of my head), but does anyboday have a wiring diagram for this?"

Since then I have determined the pin assignments on the plug if anyone wants to make an adapter.

It looks like a pretty easy hookup if your winch is solenoid operated, but my old Superwinch S2500 is not. If anyone has a schematic to adapt my style winch, I'd appreciate you sharing it.

If I get time this weekend to think about it and figure it out, I'll post it.

Thanks for any input!

I bought a wireless remote from e-bay, and it doesnt work well at all, cuts out all the time. I have a freind with a Badlands 12k lb winch, I think I'll send her this link and see how it works on her winch before I try to wire it to fit in to my RR 8500 lb.

She ordered one a few weeks ago, they are terminally backordered.

On your Pin Assignment drawing you indicate a 'black' and a 'not used'.
which one is the yellow/green?

did you ever get or develop a schematic?

thx in advance

I also purchased a HF Wireless Winch Remote when I purchased my Badlands winch. That was several months ago. The Badlands winch has a separate "box" with I think three cables coming out to the winch. I'm guessing that the box has a relay in it but have not taken it apart. I plugged my Wireless Winch remote into the winch box and it worked perfectly.

I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out.

Give this a try.

Yellow w/green stripe is 12v power.
Black. is ground.
Blue is cable in.
Brown is cable out.

Hope this helps.
