That's why I posted this here... After reading and thinking about what everyone had to say, I will just either raid my tools or buy them here and there when I have the money.

MAD, the Craftsman ***** again, This SAE 3/8" drive Socket and ratchet set is on sale today for $12.49.

If anyone is planning to to continue this thread by comparing this $12.50 Craftsman set to Snap-on please wait until the end of the day. I am out of popcorn.:)

The short import prybars are fine for what they are:a three dollar prybar. Fine for tensioning a v-belt etc... It is actually the perfect tool for scraping carbon from the burnpot of my wood pellet burning stove. But as far as using the longer ones for heavy stuff like prying on a control arm etc, they might as well be made of rubber. At the risk of sounding like a Bob Vila's long lost love child, I would like to point out that the three piece Craftsman Standard prybar sets (up to 25") seem to go on sale for $19.99 every few weeks. These are 100 times better than the import ones. I think The Craftsman Professional three piece Prybar set, which looks to by identical to the Mayhew Dominator is only $29.00 for Craftsman club members this week.

I have that standard set, which are identical to the Armstrong and mayhew ones. I would like to point out, that I bought this set for 15$ after my run in with the gay cashier. This is also when I found out im appealing to BOTH sexes:pimpflash :lol_hitti . The "junkies" know the story, its kinda funny. THe downside to the set is that they dont have a 36 inch prybar.

Only experience I've had is watching someone have their combination 36MM HF wrench start to strip a Toyota Diff Plug. I gave him my 36MM Matco socket to use instead.

And their screwdrivers, THOSE were garbage pile stuff after 2 light uses.

So far I've broken 2 HF imact sockets, 1 box end wrench and my knuckles. This was using the impact sockets on a breaker bar, as I didn't have an impact wrench at the time. I was not beating on the wrench either. HF did replace the tools, all I had to do is call them. Now I'm very leary of using them so I bought all good stuff, Snap-on, SK, Craftsman, and IR. Why have to buy things twice.:bounce:

A 31" Craftsman pro pry bar is available for 24.99. I bet you could get a good discount if you asked that friendly store associate for some help finding a long stiff pry bar. ;)

My 36" and 42" pry bars are old school straight bars without screwdriver handles. Although I have always wanted long mechanic style pry bars,I have never been willing to cough up the $60 -$100. The pointed end of a handless bar can be handy too sometimes. Great for finding the cover of your septic tank among other things more automotive in nature.

Jim, have you ever gotten over the trauma of the "happy" cashier at Sears? That was one of the best threads ever on the old "junkies" forum. :bounce:

Coach

Haha I look back and laugh about it. Never saw the guy there again, but I wasnt exactly lookin for him either. That was pretty damn funny though.
