Check this great site out once in a while for different things and figured it's time to join. Starting to plan a new garage/shop at my 2nd home in Flagstaff. Lots of great info here!

MW: another member from your area or close to it just built a 20 x 20 garage/shop for about $5,000 because he said he didn't need a permit. not sure if you are in the same area or want to see his thread, but there are several members from your area and happy to have another member from the upper desert.

where do you live the other months of the year?

welcome

I'm in Phoenix most of the time, but eventually want to spend most of my time in Flagstaff area. Have 10 acres and am thinking about 30' x 40' x 12' will work for me. I like the idea of storing two cars I have in the back on one side on a four post lift, shop next to that, and the front open for normal parking. Two 10x10 doors on gable end and possibly smaller one on side by shop area. Not sure on stick built or metal yet. Still researching. Will be checking with Coconino County, but I know permits will be required. Will get some estimates soon. Sure it won't be cheap.

MW: i agree a garage the size you are thinking of building won't be $5,000 especially if you need to have permits. here's the thread of the member that built his 20 x 20 for about $5,000 so you can see and not sure how far he's from Flagstaff or where your 10 acres is.

I've read and heard quite a bit about lifts and before you limit your ceiling height to 12 foot you might want to check the height of the lift you want to buy and measure your cars and/or trucks. I've heard many members say they wished or were happy they built their ceilings 12 foot 2 inches or 14 foot so they didn't have to reframe theirs.

good luck and post pictures when you wish to give your thread some color and ask questions if you have any. i hope you enjoy reading the threads and sort of talking with the members as much as i do.

cheers
