Hi everyone. I’ve been browsing this forum for years and now I could use some help as I embark on garage build, so I thought it was time I’d join.
For a little background, I bought my first house back in February of 2018. My one hard requirement was a decent garage, but I had almost given up on finding one that I was happy with. I finally settled on a pretty nice house that only had a single car detached but some room to build in the future. The home inspection ended up discovering a few very serious hidden issues, so I had to back out at the last minute. I had decided to give up looking for a bit after I looked at one last house I had on my list. It was a raised ranch with a roomy 2 car underneath with plenty of room to park in, a detached 24x24, and a large driveway. It was as close to perfect as I could hope for, so I pulled the trigger and have been very happy here.
The house itself was in great shape, but needed cosmetics and general updating. The detached garage, however, is a different story. Since I had the attached garage to use, I’ve focused my efforts on getting work done inside and I’ve made good progress there. My plan was to start on the garage next spring, but I’ve had to move that up. Most of my tools, car parts, etc. are at my parents’ house and I’ve just been going over there when I need something. But, they’ve decided to sell their house, so I need to make space over here pronto.
