Hi everyone. I'm a long time lurker, and first time poster. First found GJ back in 2009 after I joined the military and have been watching from the sidelines in envy since I didn't have a garage to work in. Now I've got a 2 car garage (20' deep by probably 25' wide, don't have exact dimensions but that's my best guess) to play in. Unfortunately it's a rental and if the owners raise the rent we won't be staying much after the end of our lease (house sat vacant for 4-5 months), so I'm not going to be able to really "settle" in so to speak.

Welcome. There are lots of things you can do for you and the garage that will pick up and move when you do. Just think of the word casters. For a quick shelving solution, use these:

One screw with a washer at each level and you can have a wall of shelves in an hour. When you're ready to go, they go with you and you have these little holes to patch if any patching is needed.

Just build out your garage with portability and modular in mind. It will work anywhere.

Zeke: I'm actually planning on putting up a few of those shelving brackets up because they're quick, easy, and as you said small holes to patch. I've been trying to figure out different ways to have things be modular or have more than one use. For example....

The motorcycles hidden in amongst all the stuff are sitting on top of the top and bottom shelf of my work bench. The rest of the wood will be used to make the legs of the workbench and I might make a wooden motorcycle work table with the rest, heavy duty shelving, or a reloading bench. Or worst case it'll sit there till I move again and it's perfectly sized for the inside width of a Penske 16'/22'/26' moving truck :lol_hitti.

The workbench is based off of this design but I will be doing the backsplash differently as well as a simple/quick and dirty set of "retractable" landing gear to be able to move the bench by myself.
