Hello all! I’ve been lurking for years getting ideas but I’m about to focus some time and attention to the inside of my garage-so I thought I’d start posting to get some input.

Quick background…I’m a 48-year-old car salesman that’s been a gearhead for life. In my 20s I was also a carpenter that specialized in historic restoration. About 10 years ago I bought a 1950s ranch fixer-upper in a suburb outside of Detroit and I have been picking away at it since. The garage is an attached 24x30ish two-stall with an unusual feature…a pass-thru single overhead door to the backyard. This past year I made some improvements to the garage. I combined two single doors into a custom double door, moved some openings, replaced the driveway and sidewalk, and completed the siding.

The plan for my garage will be more of a flex space. Obviously I’ll be parking my vehicles in there but I also want to use it as party space, gym in the winter, jam spot for my me and my musician buddies, workshop for my house projects, etc. I’m going for a vintage carriage house vibe. Wainscoting, service station lights, etc. The garage will have some enclosed storage and a workbench area, but I want to keep things minimal. I built a separate shed for all of my lawn equipment and additional storage.

Thanks in advance for any assistance and input! This weekend I’m replacing a defective door panel that was finally shipped from the factory. Short term, I’ll be installing my wall mount garage door opener and doing some electrical projects. I’ll be sure to post up!

Cool looking fix er upper, doing a good job. Looks like you have a 1/4 acre lot with room to wrap a driveway to the back to another workshop or garage too. Or install a in ground pool and a cabana.
Looks like you are well on your way to a forever home.

I’ve started a project thread if you’d like to check it out. Just a heads-up…it will be a long term project.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!
