Hi everyone! I'm Jimmy and I came across this place about a year and a half ago and I've been lurking and Drooling over all the cool garages and ideas!! I was at work (Home Depot) and was looking on our blog and ran across an article on there with this thread in it. http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=55006

my wife and I have been renting from my great uncle's rental property since may of 2010. We kept throwing around the idea of owning it about a year in. It is a Duplex house with the second floor with outside access only. we live on the bottom floor with our 3 shi-tzus. :)

So my uncle unfortunately was put in a nursing home at the end of 2012 and in about may of 2013 we went to a lending place to get an idea on how much a mortgage would be. my pap brought him home at the end of june to gather some clothes and 3 days later he passed away at 79 :( it was a little setback in getting the property but everyone worked through it.

he was a mechanic for all of his life and had a gas/repair station in the 60's with my pap. also worked for a couple dealer ships in Central PA and retired from Sears Auto center. He taught me about working on cars and was a big influence in working on them, he shared LOTS of stories with me from back in the day.

After we settled on the property we starting fixing up the house and settling his estate. we bought 95% of his tools from his personal garage and was given a lot of stuff from the buildings that came on our property. I had a lot of work to do on the garage since it was his storage building and not his garage he worked on cars in.

heres a pic of the outside of it since its a garage forum.

24x40 I think my dad measured.

sorry for the long intro, and I'll eventually make a thread about the garage and the other building on the property and show the house in here later on.

-Jimmy

Welcome to GJ. Nice big shop you've got.

Went through Harrisburg several years ago and filled CNG at Pacific Pride which was across street from Honda dealership. I've read that unfortunately the public cng pump has been shut down.

Thanks for the warm welcome!! Here is a picture of my great grandmas ceramic shop that is on the property too. It has 2 rooms up stairs one of which is a nice sized wood shop. There is a 3 car open bays garage on it for storage. We are probably going to tear the building down and re-build the alley side walls/corners and just make it 1 story with the garages. This is because of the corner looking bad. And i dont think I can fix it without tearing it down.

I have fond memories of eating crab cakes at Gilligan's in Harrisburg.
We'd stop there on the way home from the annual antique radio meet
in Rochester NY.
Hands down the best crab cakes I've ever had, running a close second is
Tinbuktoo just outside Ft. Mead.

Welcome to GJ.
